POLSON — From an insistent rap beat to a pop song or a poem, students who performed at Two Eagle River School’s annual Art Slam on May 29 showed off their talent. The Art Slam ended the academic school year for TERS since next week will be fun events for staff and students.
TERS teacher Rebekah Dalbey emceed the performances. Many of the poems and stories were written in Dalbey’s class.
In the common room of the school, student-made fiber arts, paintings and drawings, beadwork and photographs were on display.
Artist Kermit Davis judged the arts portion. An artist himself, Davis looked for originality, creativity and skill.
The event was a compilation of year of student work, according to Sean Dalbey, art teacher at TERS. Many of the art pieces had gone home, but students brought back beaded items and other art to display.
Student Maklit Charlo, who won the quilting category, hand pieced her quilt and said it took her about a year to finish the lime green, white, black, pink and purples quilt.
