News from the Friends of the Ronan Library

RONAN — The Friends of the Ronan Library is sponsoring a writing contest again this year in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program. This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent of young writers in our community. We will have two groups and participants can enter either a short story, a poem or both. The contest began June 9 and all entries must be completed and turned in by July 18. Entries will be turned over to three independent judges in July and the first, second, and third place winners in each group for short stories and poems will be announced at the Summer Reading Program picnic on Saturday, Aug. 9. There will be cash prizes for the top three winners in each group.

Group I, Third, Fourth, Fifth graders - each child may submit one short story, one poem or both.

Group II, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth graders - each child may submit one short story, one poem, or both.

Children should enter in the group that reflects the grade they are entering in September. This contest is open to all children who reside within the Ronan Library District service area (Ronan, Pablo, Charlo, St Ignatius) and attend public or private schools or are home schooled.

We hope that parents and teachers will encourage children to enter. If you have any questions about the contest you can call the library at (406) 676-3682. Complete rules will be available at the Ronan Library in June.
