Pat Sinclair

LEWISTOWN — The world lost one of its last true cowboys on June 15, 2014, when longtime Winnett rancher Pat Sinclair died.

He and his twin brother Mick were born April 14, 1920, to Robert and Della Sinclair in Valentine, Mont. The family later moved to Winnett to allow the boys to attend high school. Pat graduated from Winnett High School in 1940. Getting his diploma meant a lot to him and, after taking time off to help support the family, he returned to school to finish. Pat was proud to see all of his children and grandchildren graduate.

Pat was an adventurer and after school ended he rode the rails with a couple of buddies and worked his way across the southwest until being drafted into the Army in 1942. Pat saw action overseas and received two Silver Stars for bravery. He was proud to have served his country and had fond memories of his service friends. When the war ended he returned to Winnett and bought his place.

Pat was a horse trader and when he sold a horse it was well saddle broke. He was happy as long as he had a good horse and a faithful cow dog as sidekicks.

Pat was known for his Irish sense of humor and made friends wherever he went. He was always up for a game of cards and even in his 90’s could out count his kids at cribbage. In his later years he spent winters in Arizona, making new friends with the vendors and visiting old friends and army buddies. Summer months in Lewistown often found Pat and his friend Daylene poking through yard sales looking for treasures.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola and Wanda; brothers, Mick and Robert. He is survived by his children: Roy (Gail), Susan (Tom) and Dallas (Fred); grandchildren: Lela, Traver, Tylan, Talena, Trey, Tobin, Patrick and Ross; his twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Bill and Gerry and the staff at Shepherd’s Way for the care they gave Pat during the last two and a half years of his life. Special thanks go to Daylene Connelly and Barb Dubois for their friendship and devotion shown to our dad.

Dad always lived his life his way and it was quite a ride.

Memorial Services will be held Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church in Charlo, Mont.

Pat’s family and friends are welcome to express their condolences at: www.creelfuneralhome.com.

Cremation arrangements were under the care of Creel Funeral Home.
