POLSON — Dennis Hobbs, 56, of Polson, appeared in Judge Manley’s court Wednesday, June 25, but no action was taken as Hobbs’ counsel Ben Anciaux asked for an additional week to review a plea agreement with Hobbs.

Hobbs was arrested May 19 and is being held on $5 million bail for allegedly stalking a woman, forcing her to have sexual intercourse without consent and attempting to hire someone to kill her. He was also charged with assault with a weapon and distributing an interview recorded between the victim and the defense attorney. He pleaded not guilty in court on May 21.

Court documents show the plea agreement, signed by Hobbs on Thursday, June 26, requests dismissing the felony counts of assault with a weapon and solicitation of deliberate homicide.

The agreement also states that Hobbs will plead guilty to two counts of sexual intercourse without consent, both felonies, for which the State and defendant jointly recommend Hobbs be committed to Montana State Prison for 50 years, none suspended and fined $50,000, all suspended.

According to the agreement, Hobbs will also plead guilty to felony stalking with a recommended sentence of five years in Montana State Prison, none suspended and a $10,000 fine of which all is suspended; and guilty to felony tampering with evidence, for which the recommended sentence is 10 years, none suspended, and a $50,000 fine, all suspended.

The sentences would run concurrently, but the fines would be a cumulative total of $160,000.

The plea agreement also states that Hobbs may first go to Idaho to serve any sentence imposed upon him as a result of the revocation of his parole in Idaho for second-degree kidnapping and aggravated battery, both felonies, involving a previous domestic partner.

Hobbs is scheduled to appear in court July 2 for his change of plea.
