POLSON — There is no pleasure worth forgoing just for an extra three years in the geriatric ward.
I’m going to say a few things about Kaye Stam. The day that the world runs out of Coca Cola will be the day that Kaye stops in her tracks. It must be the Cola; how else can this wonder woman keep up the pace she does? She has served as our president several times; is presently our secretary-treasurer and is passionately involved with Eastern Star, where next year she will become the Grand Puhbah. (She is a member of the bell-ringers at her church besides working at their functions. As if that doesn’t keep her busy enough, she is overseeing Mary’s care.) She also coaches young bowlers during the season.
If she sees a smudge in the carpeting, out comes the scrubber. Ditto with the chairs. She mops, sweeps and steps in when there is a need in the kitchen. There’ve been times when I’ve been swamped with calls for riders and she jumps in her car and goes to pick someone up. Yes, I dread the day the world runs out of Cola.
The lunch menu for the coming week will feature:
• Thursday, July 10: chef salad
• Friday, July 11: Turkey ala king
