RONAN — Silence is golden. At least is feels that way after two weeks of noisy grandkids. After two weeks of company, everyone has gone home. Maybe things will get back to normal, if that actually ever happens.

Our condolences to the Mook and Pederson families, as both have recently lost loved ones.

The foot clinic is at 10 a.m. this Wednesday, July 16. You don’t need an appointment and it is on a “first come, first served” basis. There is no charge for this, but donations are appreciated.

Cards will be played here, at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21. If you love to play pinochle, come on and join the fun. The birthday dinner is on Friday, July 25. We will serve a great roast beef dinner and hopefully the band will once again be here to play for us.

We are still collecting aluminum cans for recycling. We appreciate all donations as they help to keep the senior center and the Council on Aging up and running. Thanks to Jim and Auggie for transporting the last load to Kalispell for us.

The COA is always in need of volunteer drivers to transport seniors to appointments and shopping. The COA supplies the cars, you just need to supply a little time. Ladies, this is a good way to get your husbands out of the house for a few hours for a really good cause.

In the last year or so, we have made a lot of improvements here at the center. We painted the outside of the building, and had wonderful new signs put up. There are new motioned-activated lights on all of the doors. New hand railings and a fantastic, new handicapped ramp and cement pad have been installed. On the inside, the pantry has been painted and new shelving has been installed. There’s also new flooring in the pantry and the kitchen. This has all been done because of grants and donations of time and money from some fantastic people. There are too many to mention, but you know who you are, and we do thank you. All of your donations of time and money are appreciated more than you will ever know.

Our menu for the rest of the month is:

•  Wednesday, July 16: taco bake

•  Friday, July 18: fish

•  Monday, July 21: meatloaf

•  Wednesday, July 22: chicken nuggets

•  Friday, July 25: roast beef

•  Monday, July 28: barbecue pork

Have a great week and remember to drink plenty of water during this hot spell.
