News from the Lake County Public Health Department
LAKE COUNTY — The Parents as Teachers program of the Lake County Public Health Department will be at several community events throughout the rest of the summer, starting with Good Old Days in St. Ignatius on Saturday, July 19, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Family Support Specialists will be on hand with bubbles, a tiny kids’ fishing pond and information about the Parents as Teachers program. The PAT program is a free, voluntary program that provides twice monthly home visits with age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age five, developmental screenings, and information and referrals to area resources. Moms can be enrolled in the PAT program as soon as they are pregnant, which many moms-to-be and dads find to be very helpful, since babies don’t come with a manual.
Upcoming events include a small activity area at Riverside Park in Polson on Tuesday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Ronan Library story hour at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31 and then again at the Library Barbecue at the Ronan City Park on Saturday, August 9, from noon to 2 p.m.
Parents as Teachers staff will also be at the Pioneer Days Fishing Derby in Ronan on Friday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Water Daze at Boettcher Park in Polson on Saturday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come have some fun with your kids (activities will be primarily for children under age 5) and learn about the Parents as Teachers program.
