Alan “Big Al” Fillman

BIG ARM — Alan “Big Al” Fillman, age 70, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, at his residence in Big Arm. He was born on June 27, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif., the son of Frank and Ruth (Findlay) Fillman.

He attended schools in San Francisco and graduated from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, Calif., and later attended Santa Rosa Junior College. His work history was varied: He built car batteries, manufactured cardboard boxes, sold auto parts and was a Reserve Police officer for the city of Rohnert Park, Calif.

He was united in marriage in 1962 to Leanna Pelhank in Carson City, Nev., and lived in Rohnert Park for 41 years. Following their retirement, Al and Leanna moved to Big Arm where they were very active in the Big Arm Association.

Al and Leanna were very avid San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, as well as NASCAR fans. He loved spending time with his family and pets, but still found time to enjoy his various memorabilia collections.

His parents precede him in death. Alan’s wife Leanna, at their home in Big Arm; his daughter Peggy Sue Hulsey and husband Randy and their children, Scott of Washington and Rachelle and her husband Levi and two great-granddaughters Carmandee and Jayden of Montana; daughter Dawn Marie Lockhart and husband Barry of California; as well as his sister Doris Wood of California; all survive him.

Memorial services have been held. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at: www.groganfuneralhome.com.
