News from Helping Hands Fund
LAKE COUNTY — The local non-profit emergency assistance program Helping Hands Fund will be closed for the month of August, 2014. The closure is in effect while Helping Hands Fund finds a new administrator after the resignation of current administrator Meg Sherry.
The program is also undergoing some policy re-evaluations in order to insure the original mission of “Emergency Assistance” stays the focus of the program.
Under the leadership of Sherry, Helping Hands Fund saw a 300-percent increase in grant funding, and almost doubled the amount of clients served. During the 2013 fiscal year, more than 1,300 Lake County children received direct assistance from Helping Hands Fund.
The Board of Directors understands the importance of this program and would like to apologize for any inconvenience. Helping Hands Fund would like to thank the community for its continued support and patience during this transition. Helping Hands will re-open its doors Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.
