Learn about huckleberries
PABLO — Come learn about huckleberries on May 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the late Louie Caye Building at Salish Kootenai College. Everyone is invited (especially youth), entry is free, and pizza will be served. Huckleberries are important both culturally and for food security. We’ll start with a talk about why we are starting this project, how huckleberries grow throughout the season, and potential impacts to huckleberries as the climate changes. If you think you might be willing to get more involved and help us research climate change impacts to huckleberries or just want to learn some research skills, after lunch we will train people how to set up trail cameras, collect data on pomology, navigate with GPS units and a compass. Contact Joel Smith with questions at (406) 203-7570 or go to: joelsmith@student.skc.edu.
