Herb group to meet at library
POLSON – Thyme for Herbs meeting takes place on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room.
The topic for the meeting will be: “What Ingredients to Avoid.” The discussion will include: preparing the herb garden for winter, harvesting seed, and preparing for the viruses of winter. Kiwanis speaker to discuss ‘The Nest’
POLSON — The Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. The speaker on Thursday, Oct. 15, will be Brook Roberts, a board member of a new facility for pregnant and parenting young women in St Ignatius called the Nest. Anyone is welcome.

Benefit held for Cleveland family
POLSON — The Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction benefit for William Cleveland will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Main Street. The cost is $10 a person or $30 for a family of four. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the William Cleveland fund.

NAMI presents ‘Minds Matter’ film
POLSON — On Monday, Oct. 19, the National Alliance on Mental Illness will present the movie “Love and Mercy” in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room at 6:30 p.m. Mental health professional Julie Frederick, MCMHC, will facilitate a discussion afterwards. This is part of a film/discussion series called “Minds Matter” presented during the month of October. Refreshments will be served. Events are free to the public.

Note earlier start for Celtic/folk music
POLSON — Mission Valley Live 2015-16 will begin their season with “Men of Worth,” a Scottish and Irish folk duo who will perform at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Polson High School. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. 18 years and under are free. An adult must accompany children under t 12. POLSON — Ken’s Country Combo will play for the Wednesday community dance on Oct. 21 at the Elks. We will dance from 7-10 p.m. All dancers are welcome.
Transportation to discuss route
POLSON — The Lake County School Transportation Committee will be meeting Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the large conference room of the Lake County Courthouse. Adjustments needed in school bus routes will be discussed. Guests are welcome.

Church serves final free dinner of season
POLSON — A free community dinner will be served on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E. The menu includes a harvest chicken dinner with all the trimmings. This is our final dinner for the season. All are welcome.
Harvest Dinner date set
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 45th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, in the church fellowship hall. The cost for the dinner is $10 per adult, $4 per child under 10 years. Fair Trade coffee will also be available for purchase. Dinner proceeds will benefit the local Cheerful Heart organization and Little Friends Preschool.

Bumgarner to present at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — Chris Bumgarner, administrator of the Mission Valley Christian Academy in Polson, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, Oct. 23, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club at the Rural Polson Fire Hall on Regatta Road. The meeting begins at noon and social time is at 11:30 a.m.
Support PHS Football
POLSON — Come out and support the Polson High School football team playing against Havre on Friday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at the high school football field. This is their last home game and “Senior Night,” where all seniors will be recognized. Play-offs will be on Oct. 31 with location and time to be announced.
