‘Absolute Basics: Software’ taught at library
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library, 2 First Ave. E, will host a free technology class on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. Specialist Heather Miles will present a session called “Absolute Computer Basics: Software.” The class will answer such questions as: What is software? How do you download and upload? Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets to follow along. Registration is required. Refreshments will be served. Democracy Rises discusses healthcare
POLSON — Democracy works best when informed citizens join together and take an active role in their government. Mission Valley Rises: Democracy Engaged is a group that works on the principle that our communities are stronger than politics. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 6-8 p.m., at the Polson Library community room, Heather O’Loughlin, of the Montana Budget and Policy Center, will speak about the State Budget Cuts – Impact on Lake County Residents. Swedish meal served at Harvest Dinner
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 47th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the church fellowship hall. Dinner is $10 per adult, $5 per child under 12 years. Take-out orders will be available for pick up after 3 p.m. Call 406-883-5864 to place an order. Dinner proceeds will benefit Polson Rural Fire.
Watch movie shot in Montana at MOAM
POLSON — Miracle of America shows historic movies on their free “Night at the Museum” program. On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. “Timberjack,” a feature-length movie filmed in 1955 in Glacier National Park will be shown. Set in Montana in the late 1880s, two logging operators compete for survival. The Truecolor movie stars Sterling Hayden, Vera Ralston, and David Brian. Adolphe Menjou, Hoagy Carmichael and Chill Wills make character appearances. A portion of this movie was shot in Polson and is evident as you watch this action packed thriller. The public is welcome. Walgreens holds pumpkin carving, painting contest
POLSON — I wanted to tell you about our second annual Pumpkin Carving/ Painting Contest at the Polson Walgreens. A winner will be chosen by the public and will receive a $25 gift card. Have entries in by Friday, Oct. 27, to be entered. Happy carving.

Drug Take Back event to be held at Walgreens
POLSON — Walgreens is hosting the Polson Police Department on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for a DEA Drug Take Back event. Customers can bring in unused/expired medications and we will dispose of them free of charge.
LWML rally planned
POLSON — The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League will hold its fall rally on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Polson. A day of Bible study on life issues and a presentation by Jennifer Rolfsness in regard to Helping Hands and the ‘Baby Box’ project will be the day’s highlights. View the moon through telescope
POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library invites all to our very own International Observe the Moon Night event on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. We will have a brief, family-friendly presentation followed by several handson activities and the chance to take a peek at the moon through a telescope. This event has been made possible by the North Lake County Public Library’s NASA@ MyLibrary grant, the generosity of our local residents, and a little elbow grease. We hope to launch an amateur astronomy club in Polson over the next year, and hope you’ll come on board even if you can’t attend every event. POLSON — The annual Fall Bazaar and luncheon is being held at the United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, on Friday, Nov. 3. Lunch menu offers soup, sandwich, apple dumpling topped with ice cream from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Art, crafts, baked goods will be sold from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit local and church-wide Mission Outreach.
