POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 49th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, homemade lefse, salad and dessert from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the church fellowship hall. The cost of dinner is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12 years. Call ahead to place take-out orders at 406- 883-5864. Dinners will be available for pickup after 3 p.m. It is the desire of Good Shepherd to keep prices reasonable because this dinner is a mission/outreach of our community so donations are always welcome. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will hold another Computer Basics Class on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. entitled “Better Safe Than Sorry: Computer Backups and How to Do Them.” We will teach you why you need to do backups to keep your devices safe. This class is free and open to the public.

POLSON — You are invited to join the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Team for a pumpkin-decorating, craft-making Halloween event at the North Lake County Public Library at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Team will join the Wiggle Worms group for this fun event, open to all with young children. POLSON — On Thursday, Oct. 31, come Trick-or-Treat at North Lake County Public Library. Wear your costume or come as you are. We will be giving out candy until it is gone.

POLSON — Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. the North Lake County Public Library’s Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale. Come in to the large meeting room of the library. There will be books of every genre, bargains galore. Fill a bag for $5 or buy the Friends of the Library canvas book bag for $15 and fill it up for free. All proceeds benefit the library’s many programs and projects.

POLSON — Come meet candidate for governor of Montana, Whitney Williams, on Friday, Nov. 1, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Bickford Building, 220 Main Street. Join hosts Co Carew and Joe McConald for wine, cheese and other goodies.

POLSON — An annual fall bazaar and luncheon is being held at the First United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, on Friday, Nov. 1. Art, homemade crafts and bake goods will be sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be soup, sandwiches and an apple dumpling with ice cream served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Proceeds are used for local and church-wide Mission Outreach.

POLSON — Welcome Home Inc. is a new non-profit organization in Polson. They are planning a casual attire benefit dinner to honor local veterans on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 5-7 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn. They are planning on between 100-120 people attending this free event. There will be guest speakers from Sen. Tester's office and Sen. Daines’ office as well as local veterans sharing their stories. Some of our board members will introduce the services we offer free to veterans, gold star members and their families. Our services include a wide range of services from educational, medical and financial to emotional and recreational therapy. POLSON — Classic Country Jammin’ will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, in the Elks ballroom, on Main Street from 2– 5 p.m. This event will continue to be held on the first Sunday every month. Bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, auto-harp, fiddle, drum, bass, sax, keyboard, etc., and join us for a few hours of fun. If playing you must bring your own equipment and it’s recommended you bring your own amp. You may also play acoustic. Everyone is welcome to play, sing, dance or just listen. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library continues their forays into Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) principles. This is a come-and-go-as-you need activity for kids of all ages from 3:30-5 p.m.

Music is by Ken’s Country Combo playing a variety of classic country and vintage rock and roll. Snacks provided during break at 8:30 p.m. Elk membership is not required. Cover charge is $5. POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce general meeting luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at The Red Lion Inn, 209 Ridgewater Dr., from noon-1 p.m. Lunch will be from MacKenzie River Pizza at a cost of $13 each. POLSON — A Zen meditation class is being offered at the YogaHeart Studio’s new location, 209 Ridgewater Drive, on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. (located in the Red Lion Inn with private entrance to Yogaheart just south of main entrance) The class is presented by Zen Priest Zenku, Jerry Smyers. POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the KwaNaqNuk Resort downstairs in the Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Please join us to hear Kathy Ross, a landscape/gardener for 30-plus years in Northwest Montana, discuss the need for native insects, birds and the vital role native plants play in their survival. She'll also explore suggestions for landscaping practices and native plants that are not only attractive garden plants but promote biodiversity. All are welcome.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will hold their “Movie Day” on Friday, Nov. 8, at 3:45 p.m. Please noted this is a onetime only date change for our usual “First Friday Fun-Movie Day.”

POLSON — On Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the North Lake County Library, Gwen Florio of Humanities Montana will present “Five Steps to a Winning Novel.” In judging contests, such as the 2019 Edgar Awards, novelist Gwen Florio read hundreds of books, a process that revealed some very specific things that made a few novels shoot to the top of the list, while other, perfectly well-written books, faded in comparison. This workshop will focus on those key qualities, with specific examples, and advice and techniques on achieving them. Gwen is an award-winning journalist and author. She is the news editor of the Missoulian.

POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. The library will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library’s Wiggle Worms program will study Sri Lanka on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

POLSON — The regular monthly meeting of the Polson Rural Fire District Board of Trustees will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station No. 1, 25-B Regatta Road. The agenda is available on the Monday prior to meeting.

POLSON/PABLO — “Every Brilliant Thing” is a moving story that is so timely and important. This is a free production that runs for approximately 60-70 minutes. The first performance will be held at the Port Polson Theater at 2 p.m. The second performance will take place at the SKC Arlee/Charlo Theater at 7 p.m. This play is a tribute to the irrepressible resilience inside all of us and the capacity to find delight in the everyday. “Every Brilliant Thing” is a funny, clever, and surprisingly uplifting play about the lengths we go to for those we love.

POLSON — “Birding - Bolivia and Chile” by local bird expert Josh Covill will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s educational program on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library's meeting room. Covill and his wife spent five months in South America exploring their passion for birds. Everyone is welcome.

POLSON — Monday, Nov. 18, is the first day of North Lake County Public Library’s “Food for Fines” program. It runs through Saturday, Nov. 30. You can pay off your library fines by donating food. For each item donated, $2 of fines will be forgiven. Sealed, commercially prepared, nonperishable food items with current expiration dates can be given to the circulation desk. This program does not include fees for lost or damaged items. All donations will go to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center will support the University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats, Nov. 13-22, with a “Brawl of the Wild” food drive. Grizzly and Bobcat fans are encouraged to bring food items to be placed into a Montana or Montana State collection box located in the hospital main lobby, 6 Thirteenth Ave. E. All food collected will be given to Polson’s Loaves and Fish food pantry.

POLSON — On Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. North Lake County Public Library will offer a free computer class entitled, “Avoiding Scams and Shopping Safely Online.” Heather will teach you how to spot and avoid online scams as well as how to shop safely online. This class is free and open to the public.

POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the KwaTakNuk Resort downstairs in the Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Join us for lunch when our speaker will be Sheriff Don Bell. Bell will update us on his office and then discuss the need for new jail facilities in Lake County. The Commissioners have scheduled a county mail-in ballot for Jan. 28, 2020. All are welcome to attend.

POLSON — The Polson Chamber’s November Support Polson Late Afternoon Social Hour sponsor is Miracle of America Museum. The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at 36094 Memory Lane. The cost is $2. Please come and network with other businesses and meet the SPLASH host. “To serve, support and strengthen our members by enhancing the business climate, promoting our area, and fostering a sense of community.”

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library’s movie night takes place on Friday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. Family friendly movies (PG or PG13) are shown at 6 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month. Check our website (northlakecountylibrary.org) for movie titles. You must be in the library before 6 p.m. to attend, as the doors lock at 6 p.m. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. Popcorn will be provided. This program is free and open to the public.

POLSON — The public is invited to our next Pachyderm meeting on Friday, November 22nd noon to 1 pm. Rex Weltz, the Polson superintendent of District 23, will be sharing with our community about why the $60 million bond is being proposed to address needs of public schools in Lake County. Snacks and coffee will be served.
