Northwest Accordion Association invites all
POLSON — The Northwest Accordion Association will hold a musical jam and dance on Sunday, Oct. 7, in the ballroom at the Elks Club on Main Street. There will be a variety of music you can listen or dance to. You do not have to be a member of the Elks Club or the Accordion Association to attend, sing or play. If you sing or play you don’t pay. Admission is $2 for members, $3 for non-members, and $5 to become a member of the association. Everyone is welcome.

Learn to knit at Polson library through Oct. 30
POLSON — For four Tuesdays in October (9, 16, 23, and 30), North Lake County Public Library is offering four learn-to-knit sessions at 2 p.m. in the library atrium. Library volunteer and “Knitter-Extraordinaire,” Linda Kittle will be available to guide you and answer questions in the process as new knitters learn the beginning steps of casting on, garter and purl stitch, increasing and decreasing and binding off. Needles and yarn for practice will be available. The teapot will be on. Guys and gals, young and old, you can do this.
Rosendale meets, greets in Polson
POLSON — Matt Rosendale, the candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be in Polson on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. for a meet and greet at the Republican Headquarters, 212 Main Street. Please come out to meet Matt face to face; this is a great opportunity for people in Lake County to meet a congressional candidate.

Apply for vacancy on Flathead Basin Commission
POLSON — The Flathead Basin Commission will hold its next meeting on Oct. 10, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Kwataqnuk Resort. The morning portion of the meeting will focus on administrative business as well as discussion and potential decisions on action items. An overview of priority issues will be provided. There is currently a vacancy on the FBC for a governor-appointed position. Interested parties should fill out an application form and apply by emailing boards@mt.gov. Nominations are also accepted. Email: kate.wilson@mt.gov for more information. The FBC was created in 1983 by the Montana Legislature to monitor and protect water quality and the natural resources in the Flathead Basin. Rural Fire District announces meeting
POLSON — The regular monthly meeting of the Polson Rural Fire District Board of Trustees will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Big Arm Station No. 2 meeting room.

‘Foggy, Foggy Forest’ read during Story Time
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library’s Story Time for 3-to 5-year-old children, their siblings and their caregivers will take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and from 4-5 p.m. This week’s book is “Foggy, Foggy Forest.” The library is located at 2 First Ave. E.
Join ‘Orange You Glad It’s Fall?’
POLSON — An Adult Coloring Program entitled, “Orange You Glad It’s Fall?” will take place at the North Lake County Library on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 2-4 p.m. in the meeting room.
Sharpen your pencils, coloring fans. Participants will briefly explore the dynamic color orange, followed by a time of relaxed coloring and fun conversation while knoshing on popcorn and drinking pumpkin spice coffee (or tea). All coloring supplies are provided. You may also bring your own. Time to break out the fall colors.
Take a photo tour of Botswana’s delta
POLSON — “Wildlife of Botswana’s Okavango Delta,” by Ron Hoff will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next program on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Ron’s photo tour will introduce you to the huge wetland swamp created by the Okavango River and many of its creatures. Ron Hoff earned his Master’s degree from U of M’s Flathead Lake Biological Station and is a retired biology teacher from Hellgate High School in Missoula.

'Meet and greet' candidates
POLSON — On Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6-8 p.m., the Polson Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate meet and greet at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room. Candidates vying for Lake County Commissioner, District 20 District Court Judge, House District 93 and House District 12 will be on hand. Refreshments will be served.

POLSON — Please join us for the community dance at the Elks on Main Street on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 7-10 p.m. in the Elks’ ballroom. We provide snacks during break at 8:30 p.m. Music is by Ken’s Country Combo band and they play a variety of vintage country and rock and roll. Everyone is welcome. No Elks membership is required. Cover charge for the evening is $5. Come and check us out.

Try geocaching at the library
POLSON — Come to the North Lake County Library on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. for a presentation on geocaching by Stephanie Nordberg of the Polson Geocachers. This will be followed by a chance to try out a geocaching application and start your own geocaching quest.

Enjoy 'Art in Autumn' reception

POLSON - Please join us for a Zumba-thon fundraiser to benefit Life Savers Animal Rescue on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 12:30 till 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 512 Main Street. Let's dance, have fun and contribute to a worthy cause. Shop with vendors, bid in the silent auction, plus there will be drawings for free prizes throughout the event.
