World AIDS Day benefit dinner planned
POLSON — On Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, a World AIDS Day benefit dinner will be held with speakers sharing how HIV/AIDS has impacted their lives. There is a $20 fee for this event ($10 for SKC students). ‘Snuggly in the Snow’ selected as library program theme

Polson to be site of upcoming Big Productions concert

Yoga Studio to hold free Kirtan event
POLSON — On Thursday, Dec. 5, from 6-7 p.m. a free Kirtan event will take place at Yoga Heart Studio, 314A Main Street. Kirtan is singing—repetition of words in call and response format. It’s an opportunity to sing with others without worry over sound or appearance. You can relax—and let go. Wear comfortable clothing. We will be sitting on the floor (chairs available.) You may wish to bring your own yoga mat and a cushion and/or a blanket, water bottle.

Christmas classic staged at Dowdall Theatre weekends through 12/15
POLSON — Make plans to see “A Christmas Carol,” Charles Dickens’ immortal story of Scrooge. The Port Polson Players in association with The Mission Valley Friends of the Arts, stage the production at the John Dowdall Theatre Dec. 6,7,8 and the following weekend Dec. 13, 14, and 15. A 7:30 p.m. curtain is slated for Friday and Saturday evenings with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. A cast of forty Mission Valley performers appear in the show including, Bob DiGiallonardo as Scrooge and Micah Craig as Tiny Tim. “ A Christmas Carol” kicks off the annual fundraiser for The Mission Valley Friends of the Arts, the non-profit organization that oversees the beautiful log theatre on the Polson Golf Course. Help light the town
POLSON — The annual Parade of Lights has been cancelled due to the extreme cold weather expected. However, Santa Claus will still be at The Cove Deli and Pizza and the Christmas tree next to the Glacier Bank drive thru Main Street will still be turned on. Come see Santa and help light the town Christmas tree. Goodie bags will be handed out to the kids after the tree lighting.

Church celebrates Christ’s birth with two-day event
POLSON — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1104 Fourth Ave. E, invites you to “The Savior of the World,” a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, from 2–8 p.m.
The celebration includes a Nativity exhibit with over 200 on display, musical performances on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., featuring local artists and choirs, and a Christmas message on Sunday at 6 p.m. featuring The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Deadline arrives to nominate your favorite holiday décor
POLSON — The Beautification Committee of Envision Polson’s third community-wide holiday decoration contest theme is “Celebrate the Season of Light.” Nominees for the various categories: residence, business, church and neighborhood (three residences constitute a neighborhood entry), are due by Dec. 10. Nomination forms are available now in Polson at the Chamber of Commerce, 418 Main Street; Ace Hardware; Sears; First Resort; Jackie M Shoes, Showboat Cinema and Hallmark. Banks display Spirit Baskets until drawings
RONAN/POLSON — Community Spirit Baskets are on display at both the Ronan and Polson Community Bank lobbies until the separate drawings for each community.
Community Bank in Ronan will hold their raffle drawing on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Ronan Bank at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12.
Swan Hill Bed and Breakfast and Community Bank in Polson will host the 2013 Splash Christmas Event, “Come Home for Christmas” from 5-7 p.m., with the Community Spirit Basket raffle drawing taking place at 6:30 p.m. Free bus transportation will be provided to Swan Hill Bed and Breakfast from Riverside Park, with departures beginning at 4:45 p.m. and continuing approximately every 15 minutes. The last bus leaves the park at 6:30 p.m. and the last bus leaves Swan Hill to Riverside Park at 7:15 p.m.
Proceeds from both events will benefit Lake County Food Pantries. You need not be present to win.
Museum to hold monthly activity
POLSON — On a trial basis, the Miracle of America Museum will be hosting an activity night on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The events are free to the public, although donations are accepted. Participants are welcome to bring cookies or other treats to share.
The Dec. 12 program will be a classic short movie starring Jimmy Stewart and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in “Mr. Krueger's Christmas,” followed by a poem written during WWII by the Lake County Superintendent of Schools. If you have a favorite Christmas poem, we invite you to share. A piano is available if your family wants to play and sing.

MVCA dinner/theater to present ‘Romeo and Juliet’
POLSON —Mission Valley Christian Academy will be presenting “Romeo & Juliet” dinner and theater on Dec. 12, 13, and 14. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. Tickets for the major school fundraising event are $35 per person or $150 for a family of five. Lucky Friday events planned in Polson
POLSON — The Polson Business Community will do many special things in their stores all day for Lucky Friday the 13th. At 5 p.m. Community Bank Polson and the PBC will host a free chili and hot dog supper as a way of saying thank-you for doing business with them. There will be carolers and music and don’t forget to stop by the Cove to have a professional photo taken with Santa or bring your own camera, from 4-7 p.m.
