County roads discussed at meeting
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Our speaker on Feb. 4 will be Jay Garrick, supervisor of the Lake County Road Department. He will address the status of the roads, equipment purchases and new projects in the future.

Seminar addresses domestic violence
POLSON — PEACE (Prevention and Education of Abuse in Christian Environments) will be hosting a seminar “No Fear In Love” on Feb. 6. The seminar includes discussing the myths, signs and effects of domestic violence as well as what the Bible has to say regarding the issue. ACT to discuss refugee resettlement
POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, learn the latest information about the effort to establish an office to coordinate refugee resettlement and bring 100 refugees a year to Missoula, plan to attend the program, “Refugee Resettlement: What does it mean to you?” Two short videos and the latest information on refugee resettlement throughout the country will be presented from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn. Herb group plans busy meeting
POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the North County Library meeting room. Our topic will be “Strategies for Prevention.” We will continue the discussion of ingredients to avoid in our foods and other products. During February we will focus on cayenne, ginger, and turmeric and talk about planning our gardens for the most productivity. For those who are new to using herbs, we are planning some special classes for beginners.

Kiwanis cook burgers, support youth
POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, from 4:30-8 p.m. at the VFW, the Kiwanis Club is cooking buffalo burgers to support youth programs. Tickets are $8 and come with salads, fresh pie and a beverage.

Valentine’s theme chosen for Masumola meeting
POLSON — Masumola Club will meet on Feb. 11 starting with social hour at 5:45 p.m. Hosts for February are Lou and Irene Marchello and Ron McClellan. It will be a Valentine’s theme.
Suggested potluck food distribution are: A–H salad or veggie; I–O; meat or hot dish; P –Z dessert. March hosts are the Olsons, the Clements and the Mowbrays. There will be live music provided by The Shamrockers.

Sheriff to address Pachyderm Club
POLSON — Lake County Sheriff Don Bell will speak at the Friday, Feb. 12, noon meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club at the Polson Rural Fire Dept. meeting room. Sheriff Bell will assess his first year in office, report on the consolidation of all Search and Rescue equipment to under one roof, and discuss the “meth” problem in Lake County. The meeting is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Self Help Law Center comes to Polson
POLSON — Missoula Self Help Law Center will be in Polson on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the North Lake County Public Library from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. They will provide services on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Walk-ins are welcome all day or to schedule an appointment please call 406-258-3428.

POLSON — Join us for All In Stitches’ 15th Annual Walk Around Polson Quilt Show. Quilts will hang in businesses on Main Street from Saturday, Feb. 13, through Saturday, Feb. 27. POLSON — The Community Dance has been going on at the Elks Club for nearly 25 years. Every first and third Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Ken’s Country Combo plays wonderful tunes and does take requests. Come check it out.

Learn about digital technology
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library, 2 First Ave. E, will host Digital Learning Day on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in the library meeting room. Trainer Sara Fisher will instruct and answer your questions about technology and electronic devices. Devices such as an iPad, Kindle, etc. will be available to explore, along with instructional practice involving the library’s e-resources. There will also be laptops featuring different topics or skills. Information about free technology tutorials will be offered. Any one of any age or skill level is invited. Parents as Partners invite the public
POLSON —The theme for the Wednesday, Feb. 17, Parents as Teachers Community Connection will be “Random Acts of Kindness.” Open to the public, this fun event will include snacks, an activity or two, places to climb and crawl through, and story time. Kids will be able to take a book home with them too. Come join us from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Department, 802 Main St.
