POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, learn the latest information about the effort to establish an office to coordinate refugee resettlement and bring 100 refugees a year to Missoula, plan to attend the program, “Refugee Resettlement: What does it mean to you?” Two short videos and the latest information on refugee resettlement throughout the country will be presented from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn. POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the North County Library meeting room. Our topic will be “Strategies for Prevention.” We will continue the discussion of ingredients to avoid in our foods and other products. During February we will focus on cayenne, ginger, and turmeric and talk about planning our gardens for the most productivity. For those who are new to using herbs, we are planning some special classes for beginners.

POLSON — On Monday, Feb. 8, from 4:30-8 p.m. at the VFW, the Kiwanis Club is cooking buffalo burgers to support youth programs. Tickets are $8 and come with salads, fresh pie and a beverage.

POLSON — A special Introduction to Zen Meditation Class that was being offered at the Yoga Heart Studio, 314 Main Street, on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. has been rescheduled until sometime in March. For more details call 847-721-0665.

POLSON — Masumola Club will meet on Feb. 11 starting with social hour at 5:45 p.m. Hosts for February are Lou and Irene Marchello and Ron McClellan.  It will be a Valentine’s theme.

Suggested potluck food distribution are: A–H salad or veggie; I–O; meat or hot dish; P –Z dessert. March hosts are the Olsons, the Clements and the Mowbrays. There will be live music provided by The Shamrockers.

POLSON — A free dinner will be served at the Polson Presbyterian Church on Feb. 12 from 5-6:30 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us. The Friendship Table Dinner is free and open to all.

POLSON — Lake County Sheriff Don Bell will speak at the Friday, Feb. 12, noon meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club at the Polson Rural Fire Dept. meeting room. Sheriff Bell will assess his first year in office, report on the consolidation of all Search and Rescue equipment to under one roof, and discuss the “meth” problem in Lake County. The meeting is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.

POLSON — Missoula Self Help Law Center will be in Polson on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the North Lake County Public Library from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. They will provide services on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. POLSON — Join us for All In Stitches’ 15th Annual Walk Around Polson Quilt Show. Quilts will hang in businesses on Main Street from Saturday, Feb. 13, through Saturday, Feb. 27. Plan some time to pick up a ballot and walk around Polson to vote on your favorite quilts by Feb. 23. Ribbons will be hung Feb. 24. POLSON — The Community Dance has been going on at the Elks Club for nearly 25 years. Every first and third Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Ken’s Country Combo plays wonderful tunes and does take requests. Come check it out.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library, 2 First Ave. E, will host Digital Learning Day on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in the library meeting room. Trainer Sara Fisher will instruct and answer your questions about technology and electronic devices. Devices such as an iPad, Kindle, etc. will be available to explore, along with instructional practice involving the library’s e-resources. There will also be laptops featuring different topics or skills. Information about free technology tutorials will be offered. Any one of any age or skill level is invited. POLSON —The theme for the Wednesday, Feb. 17, Parents as Teachers Community Connection will be “Random Acts of Kindness.” Open to the public, this fun event will include snacks, an activity or two, places to climb and crawl through, and story time. Kids will be able to take a book home with them too. Come join us from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Department, 802 Main St.

Pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend this free program. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children in the area, and to learn more about the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program. Call LCPH at 406-883-7288 for more information.

POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Please join us Feb. 18 when our guest speakers will be Jenifer Blumberg and Savanna Bell, RN, who are Parent Educators with the Lake County Public Health Department. They will give an overview on the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Program. They will also provide a summary of the Adverse Childhood Experience Study and its impact on children and families. Finally, they will talk about The Nest, a new home in Lake County/Flathead Reservation serving pregnant and parenting young moms.

POLSON — Blue Smoke will headline Polson’s Seventh Annual Winter Fest, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Elks Club Ball Room, beginning at 5 p.m. “Soup’s On,” a free food program relies on this yearly fundraiser to support these efforts. Admission is only $10, which includes a Montana Feast in the Spirit of the Valley. Desserts will feature our finest bakers who volunteer weekly at Soup’s On. Children under 10 are free. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing are also on tap. Donation items for the auction are greatly appreciated.
