Library to host humanities program
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will host the Montana Conversations program, “American Art and American Democracy: It All Comes Together in Jazz,” with musician Wilbur Rehmann on Wednesday, March 8. The program will be in the meeting room at 5:30 p.m. The presentation is free.
Polson Rural Fire Board to meet
POLSON — The regular monthly meeting of the Polson Rural Fire District Board of Trustees will take place Wednesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station No. 1 meeting room, 25-B Regatta Road.

Masumola Club celebrates St. Patrick’s Day
POLSON — The Masumola Club meets on Thursday, March 9. The birds are singing in the trees and so should you. So please add the 9th to your social calendar. We gather at 5:40 p.m. with dinner to follow and a brief meeting thereafter. Hosts will provide corned beef and potatoes and carrots. It will be a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Please consider bringing Irish themed dishes. Suggested food distribution: A – H dessert; I – O salad or vegetable; P – Z hot dish.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library presents Story Time on Thursdays for 3-5 year olds at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The one-hour program includes reading, rhymes, and crafts. This week’s story theme is “How do Dinosaurs Say I’m Mad?”

Biostation director to talk about invasive species
POLSON — Tom Bansak, aquatic ecologist and Assistant Director at the Flathead Lake Biological Station, will speak at the Friday, March 10, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club beginning at noon at the Polson Rural Fire Department Building on Regatta Road. The title of his talk is “Shrimp, Salmon, Trout and Mussels: Invasive Seafood Chowder in Flathead Lake.”

Learn tree care, maintenance
POLSON — Want to make sure your fruit trees, shade trees and conifers all thrive this year and every year? Jack Stivers, Montana State University Lake County Extension Agent, and Rick Jennison, arborist, will teach a free tree care and maintenance class through Polson Adult Education at Polson High School, room 104, on March 13, 14, 15 and 16 from 6-8 p.m. The class will deal with understanding what your trees need and what you can do to keep them healthy. Celebrate St. Pat’s Day at Community Dance
POLSON — The Community Dance on March 15 will include a celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, so wear green and bring some treats. The celebration and dance takes place at the Elks from 7-10 p.m. and Ken’s Country Combo will provide the music.
Donate blood at St. Joseph
POLSON — During Red Cross Month in March, the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to join in its lifesaving mission by giving blood. Since 1943, every U.S. president has designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world. County attorney speaks at Kiwanis meeting
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club’s speaker on March 16 will be Lake County Deputy County Attorney, Wally Congdon. Wally will talk about the current civil issues affecting Lake County citizens. The Polson Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Thursday each month at the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah Room from noon to 1 p.m.
