‘Shred Day’ is free
POLSON — Glacier Bank will sponsor their annual Community After-tax Shred Day on Friday, May 20, at 50510 Highway 93 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The mobile shred truck will be on location at the main Glacier Bank to shred your personal documents for free. Limit two boxes per person.
‘Who’s John Doe?’ featured at Theatre

POLSON — Lake County Transfer Station, 36117 N. Reservoir Road, is holding an electronics-recycling event on Saturday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Individuals and businesses may drop off 500 pounds free and each pound over that is 35 cents per pound. Call 406-883-7323 for more information.

Author comes to Polson
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library in Polson will host highly-acclaimed Billings author Russell Rowland for a book reading and signing on Monday, May 23, at 4 p.m. in the library meeting room. Rowland will present his new book “Fifty-Six Counties: A Montana Journey.”

Presentation addresses suicide
POLSON — Karl Rossten, LCSW, a Suicide Prevention Coordinator for Montana DPHHS, will give a presentation to address the high Montana suicide rate. His free talk will be May 24, from 2-5 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn and it is open to anyone.

Free dinner served
POLSON — A free community dinner will be served on Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2 Seventh Ave. E. The menu includes casseroles, salads, and desserts. All are welcome.

POLSON — In remembrance of Armed Forces Day, the Miracle of America Museum will show “WWII in Color,” a digitally restored film of actual footage showing the real brutality of war on Thursday, May 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Not recommended for young children because of the scenes of terror, chaos, and blood in actual battlefield conflicts (although Hollywood movies have been more graphic). Time permitting there will be a museum tour of artifacts like those seen in the movie. Treats and donations are accepted. Call 406-883-6804.

POLSON — The Polson Flathead Historical Museum opens for the season on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, and goes until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. The museum is located at 708 Main Street and operates Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 406-883-3049, for more information.
Memorial Day parades organized
POLSON/RONAN — Memorial Day parades, organized by the Polson and Ronan VFW posts, will be held in Polson at 10 a.m. and Ronan at noon. Memorial services at both the Polson and Ronan cemeteries will be held immediately after the parades. Following all ceremonies a lunch will be served, about 1:30 p.m., at the Ronan VFW, 35981 Round Butte Road. This event is open to all community members and their families.
