Final ‘permaculture’ class offered
POLSON – On Tuesday, May 26, from 7:30-9 p.m., the Montana Co-op, series explores species accumulations, food forests installation, and organizing for Lawers’ Nursery sale. This class takes place at the Montana Co-op, Polson 410 Main Street. There is no charge for the class but donations are accepted.

Come dance at Elks
POLSON — A community dance will be held from 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 at the Elks Hall in Polson. This week, it will be Heart to Heart entertaining. We love all the treats you are bringing to share. May is fast leaving us, so bring your friends, your company, and anyone else who just might enjoy a dance or two, and good music.
EAA Chapter 1122 to discuss annual Fly In
POLSON – The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1122 in Polson will hold a May meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at the Polson Airport.
The main point of discussion will be the annual Fly In Breakfast to be held on Sept. 12.
Please bring ideas and suggestions. All interested pilots and aviation enthusiasts are welcome to attend this meeting. We hope to see you there.

Suicide prevention group to host Phillips
POLSON — Paul Phillips, project coordinator for Salish Kootenai College’s community health and development will be the presenter at the May 27 Partners in Suicide Prevention and Intervention meeting, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of the Polson Tribal Health Clinic. Phillips will share ideas for keeping youth physically, mentally and emotionally healthy through physical activity and good nutrition. A free lunch will be served. Enjoy evening of local wine, art, live music
POLSON — An evening of art, wine and live music will take place Friday, May 29 from 6-9 p.m. in the Bickford Building (old bookstore) at 220 Main Street in Polson.
“Eternal Return” showcases the paintings, etchings and mono prints of artists Joan Staufer and Dana Berardinis.
Berardinis is also a local winemaker who uses 100 percent local and organic fruit. The wines will be served with appetizers. For more information, call 406-270-9406.

POLSON — Montana Kids Co-op presents an evening of music and food as they host the Native American band WarCry on Friday, May 29 from 5-10 p.m. Admission is $5 for all ages. The Montana Co-op is located at 401 Main Street.

Be bear aware
POLSON — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will be having their monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW on Round Butte Road in Ronan. The program is a Bear Aware film out of Canada and we will have a training session on the proper use of Counter Assault by Scott Kiser.

POLSON – A “Child Passenger Safety” class to be offered June 2–5 at the fairgrounds fire department, 25B Regatta Road, in Polson. Become a certified passenger safety technician and use your new skills to teach parents and caregivers about proper car seat safety for their children. School superintendent to speak to Chamber
POLSON – The June general meeting of the Polson Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for noon on Wednesday, June 3, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. The luncheon speaker will be Dr. Linda Reksten, Superintendent of the Polson School District #23. She will report on the State of the Schools. The meeting is open to Chamber members and the public. Check children’s car seats
POLSON — We are having a child passenger safety check station in Walmart’s parking lot on Friday, June 5, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Stop by and have your child car seat checked by certified child passenger safety technicians. Make sure your child is riding in the car seat that is right for his/her age and weight and that it is installed correctly. This check event is the culmination of a CPS class that took place last week here in Polson where new technicians gained hands-on experience under the guidance of CPS instructors.

POLSON — Lake County Search and Rescue will hold a fundraiser: an ATV, UTV, and Dirt Bike Poker Run on Saturday, June 6. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Buffalo Bridge and end at Sloan Bridge with a barbecue dinner. Pre-registration will take place Friday, June 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the VFW in Polson. Late registration starts at 8 a.m. June 6. Registration fees are $35 for the first poker hand and a T-shirt; $10 for additional hands. POLSON — To celebrate community birthdays for the month of June, the Montana Co-op will hold an Open Mic night Saturday, June 6 from 6-10 p.m. The event is open to families and children of all ages to come have fun and sing, enjoy a potluck, and eat cakes to celebrate birthdays.

Register for summer reading program
POLSON — The North Lake County Library Summer Reading Program registration begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 8.
The theme of this year’s program is, “Heroes”—with three sub-themes: for children: “Every Hero Has a Story;” for teens: “Unmask;” and for adults: “Escape the Ordinary.” For each benchmark they achieve, they receive a coupon or a prize and a ticket to enter raffle drawings. The raffle will be the final day of the Summer Reading Program.
