Play basketball in downtown Polson
POLSON — The Flathead Lake 3-on-3 basketball tournament is played in the streets of downtown Polson, July 22-23, just a slam dunk away from beautiful Flathead Lake. Please join us for one of the most fun and popular athletic events in Montana. Financial support provided mainly through team fees and corporate sponsors has enabled 3-on-3 to donate its net proceeds to local charities. Library to host ‘Being Social: Using Social Media’
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will host a free technology class on Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. in the meeting room. Specialist Heather Miles will present a class titled “Being Social: Using Social Media.” Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets to follow along. Library laptops will also be available for those who don’t have a device. Anyone of any age or skill level is invited to attend. Registration is required. Free Night at the Museum movie shown
POLSON — At 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum, the classic family, feature-length movie, “The League of Grateful Sons,” will be shown. This touching movie pays tribute to WWII veterans and contains excellent original footage. All Free Night at the Museum movies include a background discussion and tours of displays and select items. Treats and donations are always welcome.

Barbecue aficionados battle at fairgrounds
POLSON — Smokin’ on the River begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, at the Polson Fairgrounds, (adjacent to the new Regatta Shoreline Amphitheater). Smokin’ on the River BBQ Battle is a contest for backyard and professional cookers to show off their barbecuing skills. Categories include: sauce, chicken, beef, pork, and open. Awards will be given to first and second place entries. Admission and parking are free, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs and watch the contestants, shop vendor booths, and enjoy music from Thunder Skye. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Coolers and pets are not allowed. Dry camping-style RV spaces are available for contestants and vendors. Guitars, bass, piano play country music in comedy through Aug. 6
POLSON — From July 20–Aug. 6 the Port Polson Players will offer the musical comedy “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” Set in contemporary Georgia, this refreshing story features selections like “Tips, Farmer Tan,” “Catfish” and “Mona Mona” in a country music-infused celebration. The ‘Pump Boys’ sell high octane on Highway 57, as the ‘Dinettes’ run the Double Cup diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country western songs on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils.
Watch ‘Death by Golf ’ through Aug. 27
POLSON — From Aug. 10-27 the Port Polson Players production of Gregg Kreutz’s comedy-mystery “Death by Golf ” wraps up Polson’s Summer Theatre season. When an escaped convict, an anxious bride, a scheming new husband, and a suspicious attorney all convene at Grandpa’s house, it doesn’t take long for Grandpa to realize he has to reschedule his golf game. This show pays tribute to the Players’ location on the Old Nine of the Polson Golf Course. Chamber examines Montana’s economy
POLSON — On Wednesday, Aug. 2, members of the Polson Chamber of Commerce will hear from Paddy Fleming, Director of the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, whose goal is to help Montana manufacturers succeed. Concert, family activities planned at Boettcher Park
POLSON — Join us for “Music in the Park”, a fun, family event at Boettcher Park, from 7-8:30 p.m. “Harvest Sound,” a musician group traveling through Montana will play music. Swim in annual race
POLSON — The 15th Annual Water Daze 1-Mile Swim will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5. Swim from Salish Point, through the pristine waters of Flathead Lake, to Boettcher Park with the backdrop of the Mission Mountains. Registration will open from 11 a.m. to noon with a 1 p.m. start time. Swimmers will be provided transportation to KwaTaq- Nuk from Boettcher about 30 minutes prior to the start of the race. Local kayakers and emergency personnel will be along the racecourse for safety and support. Since the beginning, Water Daze has been an essential part of the Mission Valley Aquatic’s mission, outreach and fundraising campaign. There is beautiful scenery, clear water, great food and friends — all in support of the Lake Monsters Swim Team and Mission Valley Aquatics. See you there.

Get health screening in Polson
POLSON — The University of Montana Improving Health Among Rural Montanans will be conducting health screenings from 9 a.m.- 2.p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at Lakeshore Pharmacy, (inside Super 1 Foods, Polson). IPHARM will offer the following health screenings: bone density, hgA1c (blood glucose), cholesterol (this test requires a 9-12 hour fast for complete results; but please drink plenty of water). Get ready for chili
POLSON — The 11th annual Rotary Chili Cookoff will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, from noon-2 p.m. at Riverside Park. Make sure you purchase your raffle tickets, ($25 per ticket or 5 tickets for $100), to help raise funds for the Boys Scouts’ Summer Camp; the Mission Valley Aquatic Center’s bleachers, youth pool toys; and the Linderman Elementary summer program. Prizes this year include: $1000 cash, groceries and gas ($1000 total value), more than 100 bottles of wine, 2 annual golf passes, $1000 worth of local beef, and a flight seeing trip and dinner for four. Music celebration at Aber Day Reunion
POLSON — The Aber Day Reunion Concert will take place at the Regatta Shoreline Amphitheater on the banks of the Flathead River in Polson from 3-9 p.m. Mission Mountain Wood Band, Sam Riddle, Andrea Harsell and Luna Roja will provide the music. Join Solar Eclipse Block Party
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is hosting a Solar Eclipse Block Party on Monday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. A total solar eclipse will cross the United States on that day. In Polson we will see about 89% totality. The North Lake County Library Foundation is hosting a $5 hot dog lunch with all proceeds going toward the library’s Family Summer Reading Program. Mission Valley Eye Center/Ronan Eye Clinic has generously sponsored the purchase of more than 200 pairs of solar eclipse glasses that will be available at the party to safely view the eclipse. There will be crafts for kids, educational displays, a photo booth, music and more. We will have limited seating available – feel free to bring a lawn chair for comfort. The library will also be holding a huge book sale in the meeting room from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. that day. We hope to see you there.
