MSU alumni invited to dinner cruise, golf
POLSON — On July 27, area friends, MSU Alumni, families and Bobcat Boosters are invited to participate in a Flathead Lake dinner cruise. This event is designed specifically for MSU alums, families and friends whether or not you participate in the golf scramble. This is a great opportunity to socialize with other Bobcats, while enjoying a scenic voyage on Flathead Lake. The cruise will be hosted by MSU Head Football Coach Jeff Choate. Cruise on board the “Shadow,” which departs from the Kwataqnuk Resort at 6 p.m. and returns at 9 p.m. A buffet dinner will be served and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are $55 per person. The golf scramble will be hosted at the Polson Bay Golf Club on July 28. The format will be similar to last year. The scramble begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m., followed by a social hour and a barbecue. Entry fee is $500 per team. Proceeds benefit the MSU Bobcat Athletic Scholarship Fund. Recycling in Lake County addressed
POLSON — All are invited to the Pachyderm meeting on Friday, July 27, to hear Mark Nelson address the changes in recycling and overall operations of Lake County solid waste. The meeting takes place from noon-1 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Department off Regatta Road.

Polson plays basketball
POLSON — The 26th anniversary of Montana’s longest running 3-on-3 basketball tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, in downtown Polson. This tournament is played just a slam dunk away from beautiful Flathead Lake. Please join us for one of the most fun, alcohol-free and popular athletic events in Montana. Crafts, treats, reading planned at library story hour
POLSON — Join the Parents as Teacher Home Visitors as we partner with Youth Services Librarian Kendra during the North Lake County Public Library’s Mother Goose Story Hour at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30. The theme will celebrate the “International Day of Friendship.” We’ll have activities, a craft project, treats, and, of course, stories.

New art exhibit begins at Sandpiper Gallery
POLSON — The Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery, 306 Main Street, begins their new exhibit, “Where does the Story Begin?” The show runs from July 30-Aug. 31 and features member artists Carole Carberry (watercolor), Maryann Eikens (sculpture/watercolor), Gitti Miller (basket weaving) Jan Brooks (wearable art), Jan Lindgren (watercolor), Julie Christopher (everything and anything), and guest artist John Ashley (photography). Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Boys and Girls Club summer program June 11 through August 17
LAKE COUNTY — The Flathead Reservation and Lake County Boys and Girls Club will operate a summer program at both their Polson and Ronan sites Monday-Friday (not July 4) from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. from June 11-Aug. 17. The cost is $25 per month and must be paid up front in addition to membership fee. Space is limited. The summer program focuses on academics, good character and citizenship and developing healthy lifestyles. Applications may be picked up onsite or at: www.flatheadbgc.org.

POLSON — The national theme for the Family Summer Reading Program is “Libraries Rock.” Registration begins at the North Lake County Public Library on Monday, June 11, and ends on Aug. 10. On Monday, June 11, the library will host the Usborne Book Fair. Come browse the latest books.

POLSON — The North Lake County Library’s Thursday morning reading program invites you to a special two-hour program with the SciNation Maker Truck. The program is from 10 a.m.-noon.
Share the Spirit director to speak
POLSON - The Polson Kiwanis Club hold lunch meetings the first and third Thursday of each month downstairs in the KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room, from noon-1 p.m. Toni Young, Share the Spirit’s director, will speak about the local organization’s efforts since 1998 to make sure Lake County children have the best Christmas possible. Share the Spirit has been in partnership with the United States Marines and Toys for Tots for the past 15 years, and also with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which raises money for a shopping excursion at Wal-Mart. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Polson Rural Fire Board meets to adopt budget
POLSON — The regular monthly meeting of the Polson Rural Fire District Board of Trustees will take place on Wednesday, August 8, at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station No. 1 meeting room, 25-B Regatta Rd. The agenda will include adopting the FY 2018-2019 budget.
Walmart site of Safety Day activities
POLSON — On Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 3-7 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot, summer safety activities will take place. Car seat checks, fire extinguisher demonstrations (meet Smokey Bear), bicycle helmet fitting, gun locks, a life jacket raffle, breastfeeding information, safe sleep information and more will all take place during the Summer Safety Day event.
