POLSON — North Lake County Public Library Family Summer Reading Program weekly activities are on Thursday at 10 a.m. for school age children accompanied by an adult. It’s movie day at the Polson Theatre, popcorn is on us and “Flubber” is on the big screen.

POLSON/RONAN — The summer program start date for both the Polson and Ronan Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs is Monday, June 16. Both clubs will end their summer programs on Friday, Aug. 22. POLSON — PHS class of 1964 is holding their 50th class reunion Aug. 1, 2, and 3. Registration and a meet and greet will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. Boating on Polson Bay on Saturday afternoon will be followed by a banquet in the evening. Friends, family, and faculty are invited to join us for a picnic on Sunday afternoon. All events will be held at 35218 Rocky Point Road. POLSON — Port Polson Players will present “Who Gets the Lake Place,” a musical comedy, July 24-Aug. 10 at Polson’s beautiful theatre on the Lake. POLSON — The Summer Food Service Program will be held at the Cherry Valley Elementary School, 107 Eighth Ave. W from June 16-Aug. 8. This program provides free breakfast and lunch for all children age 18 and under, and will be served Monday through Friday. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. If you need further information, call 883-6355 Ext 604.

POLSON — The Polson Chamber’s sixth annual Smokin’ on the Water and the Brew Tour, take place at the KwaTaqNuk Resort on Aug. 2.

The one-day event combines freshly smoked barbecue with the sounds of live music and the opportunity to taste local brews. The barbecue is from 11 a.m.—6 p.m. and the local brew tour will go from 11 a.m.—8 p.m. Live music will play on the lawn all day with Smash Hit Carnival taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. This year, 10 of the dragon boats teams will paddle to Polson Bay as they prepare for the Montana Dragon Boat Festival on Sept. 13 and 14, in Bigfork.

POLSON — In anticipation of the Apple Pie Festival, Polson’s Immaculate Conception Parish is collecting sugar for making apple pies at weekend liturgies beginning this weekend and at every weekend liturgy in August. (Many thanks for last month’s flour donations.) 

We are also looking for a large chest-type freezer to store the finished pies in come October. For more information, call Cristina at (406) 887-2234 or Linda at (406) 490-4897. 

POLSON — Join Mission Valley Aquatics on Saturday, Aug. 2, for the 12th annual Polson Bay’s Water Daze one-mile swim race from Salish Point to Boettcher Park. Proceeds from this year’s event will support our Lake Monsters Swim Team.

Registration opens at 11 a.m. at Boettcher Park. Swimmers are bussed to the KwaTaqNuk at 12:30 p.m. Race starts at 1 p.m.

A free kids’ swim race will also take place. Awards will be given. 

Race day packet pick-up will be at Boettcher Park from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Entry to the swim race is $25 or $30 on race day. For an application or more information, go to: www.mvaquatics.com.

POLSON — Tennis camp will be held Aug. 4-7 from 9-10 a.m. for children who will be in grades four, five and six and from 10-11 a.m. for seventh and eight graders. POLSON – The University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station invites the public to a free open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. The station is located 17.5 miles north of Polson and 14 miles south of Bigfork along Highway 35 on the east shore of Flathead Lake.

Participants can explore the station and learn about research and education programs. This year’s open house features boat trips and displays about FLBS science, especially Flathead Lake and its watershed. 

POLSON — Polson’s Chamber of Commerce general meeting and luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort from noon-1 p.m.  Featured speaker is Angelique Albert, Executive Director of the SKC Foundation.

POLSON — “Summerfest” on Flathead Lake is an exciting three-day event including: the Car Show, Sandpiper Arts Festival, live music concerts, boat and water events, Poker Walk/Run, and so much more. A kick-off event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 7, with Anderson Broadcasting at the KwaTaqNuk Resort at 7:30 p.m. The Bop-A-Dips community concert, also presented by Anderson Broadcasting, will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at Riverside Park. POLSON — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will be at Murdoch’s parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 9, with demonstrations at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Come out and meet K-9 Sole and buy a raffle ticket to help him get a bullet/stab proof vest.

POLSON — All area children entering first-eighth grade are invited to an Ecumenical Vacation Bible Camp sponsored by the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Aug.11-15. Camp this year will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 Fourth Ave. E in Polson from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Students in grades first-sixth will enjoy music, arts and crafts, Bible Study and more at Good Shepherd Church. Students in grades seven and eight will do service projects. A registration and medical information form is required. There is no charge per student but a good will offering will be collected each day. POLSON — A cancer support group for cancer patients, cancer survivors and caregivers meets twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays at the United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E from noon-1 p.m.

POLSON — Polson’s Foursquare Church will hold a Sports/Art Camp Vacation Bible School Aug. 11-15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The church is located 3.5 miles north of Polson Bridge. POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E (use the east side door). Our topic will be “Being Prepared for Viruses.” We will also discuss harvesting and storing herbs and saving seeds of herbs and heirloom vegetables.

POLSON — There will be a Polson School District board meeting on Monday, Aug. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E.

The Polson City/County Planning Board is holding work sessions to review draft changes to the Polson Development Code. The Polson Development Code contains the zoning and subdivision regulations for the City of Polson and surrounding area. The public is invited to attend and participate in the meetings. Each meeting will be held in the Polson City Council chambers.  The next meeting is on Monday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. and it will cover sign regulations.

POLSON — Join us for a field day on on-farm food safety. We’ll do a walk-through of Fresh Roots Farm with food safety experts. Together, you’ll be able to see the farm through the experts’ eyes: What are the problem areas? What are possible easy fixes? We encourage you to bring your challenges and have the group help you brainstorm cheap and easy ways to make sure you’re being safe and careful with your products. This field day is occurring in partnership with the Western Montana Growers’ Coop and their group GAP certification pilot program.
