Polson celebrates the 4th with parade, fireworks

Taste cheese, tour facility
POLSON – An open house will take place at Flathead Lake Cheese on Sunday, July 5, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be tours and tastings.

Number of dancers increases
POLSON — It is wonderful that the number of dancers is growing each week at our community dance, but we still have room for you. Please come and join us as Heart to Heart plays this week. We are at the Elks every Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Treats are great and really appreciated.

Learn the history of Harley Davidson
POLSON – The Miracle of America Museum will show a 73-minute documentary on the history of cycling and the evolution of this last American cycle manufacturer. A guided tour of the MOAM’s vintage Harleys will be given.

Free dinner open to all
POLSON – A free dinner will be served at Polson Presbyterian Church on July 10 from 5-6:30 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us for the July Friendship dinner; it is free and open to all.
Sunday, July 12
Paddle for clean water
POLSON — The inaugural Flathead Lake Poker Paddle on Sunday, July 12, promises to be a well-attended, unique fundraiser and a fun day on the lake.
Human-propelled boats will launch from King’s Point, stopping at designated docks at islands in the narrows where participants will collect a playing card at each location to build a poker hand.
The event wraps up with prizes, a catered after-party by Gourmet Galley and Glacier Brewing, and live entertainment by Dark Horse Band.
The event is limited to 100 vessels. Must be 18 years old to play.
Proceeds benefit the Flathead Lakers student education program and community work to protect clean water.

Free health screenings offered
POLSON – The University of Montana Improving Health Among Rural Montanans program is offering free health screenings on Monday, July 13, from 9-11 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in conjunction with IPHARM will be offering bone density, blood glucose and cholesterol screenings. The cholesterol test requires a 9-12 hour fast for complete results; but please drink plenty of water. Free blood pressure readings will also be available. School board to meet
POLSON — Polson School District will hold a regular board meeting on Monday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the school district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E.

Playgroup to meet
POLSON —Make plans to attend the Parents as Teachers Playgroup at the Lake County Health Department in Polson on Wednesday, July 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Western night at the dance
POLSON — It is western night at the Wednesday Community Dance. Ken’s Country Combo will play. There are many more dancers attending and that is wonderful. Join the fun from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks on Main Street.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library weekly activities are on Thursday at 10 a.m. for school-age children. July 16 is “Local Hero Day.” Guest for this event will be Tim Thorton, can ER physician’s assistant.

POLSON — The Beautification Committee of Envision Polson invites you to nominate what you consider to be the “bloomin’ best” yards and gardens in our community. Nominate a business and/or a residence within the city limits of Polson by July 17, for recognition of their beautiful flower gardens. You can even nominate yourself.
