Chamber sponsors 4th of July parade, fireworks
POLSON — The Polson Chamber is again sponsoring the Polson 4th of July parade as well as the fireworks show scheduled for that evening. Those wanting to volunteer to help with the parade are asked to contact the Polson Chamber at 406-883-5969.
Eat ice cream at Flathead Historical Museum
The Polson Flathead Historical Museum on Main Street will offer free admission and an ice cream social right after the noon parade on the Fourth of July. Stop by and cool off.

Join the 4th of July Parade
POLSON — Join the July 4th Parade in downtown Polson beginning at noon. Parade entry forms are available at the Chamber office and must be returned to the Chamber office by July 3. The parade begins at Cherry Valley Elementary School, heads down Main Street, turning at Third Ave. and ends on the following block. Stop by the Chamber office at 418 Main Street before the parade and purchase a glass of fresh lemonade, all proceeds support the Community Fireworks Show. For more information call 406-883-5969.

Meeting cancelled
POLSON — Because of the activities surrounding the Fourth of July celebration, the Polson Chamber of Commerce has decided not to hold the regularly scheduled luncheon meeting on Wednesday, July 6. Scheduled speaker, Webb Brown of the Montana State Chamber of Commerce will speak at the Chamber’s September meeting instead.
Republicans to hold July meeting
POLSON — Lake County Republican Central Committee will hold their monthly meeting on July 6 at the Polson Rural Fire Hall at 6:30 p.m. The State Rules Convention will be discussed and assignments will be made for staffing the Lake County Fair and the Cherry Festival booths. POLSON — The Lake County School Transportation Committee will meet on Thursday, July 7, at 1:30 p.m. in the large conference room of the Lake County Courthouse. Register for basketball, volleyball camps
POLSON — A Girls Youth Basketball and Volleyball Camp will be held July 11- 13. This camp is for girls going into grades 2- 8. Basketball camp is from 9 a.m.-noon and volleyball camp is from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. each day. A free lunch will be served at Cherry Valley if registered for both. POLSON — The July Parents as Teachers Playgroup will feature “Exercise Fun” with Lynette Duford. Pregnant moms and families with children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend this free program. Come join us from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Public Health Department, 802 Main Street, on Wednesday, July 13. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children in the area, and to learn more about the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program. Enter Cherry Cook-off
POLSON — Consider cherries jubilee, cherry-limeade, cherry bourbon ice cream, grilled trout with cherry salsa, cherry-rosemary sea salt focaccia, and who could forget cherry pie? It’s time to dig through your recipe box to find your best recipe featuring Montana cherries. In conjunction with the Montana Cherry Symposium on Sept. 14 at the KwaTaqNuk the Montana Cherry Advisory Committee will host a Cherry Cook-Off. If you are interested in entering the Cherry Cook-Off, registration forms can be found online at: www.agr. mt.gov/agr/producer/checkoff/ cherries. Recipes should be original, creative, and easy to prepare. All submissions should be sent to the Montana Department of Agriculture by Friday, July 15. After the deadline, entries will be screened and eight will be chosen to participate in the live cook-off on Sept. 14. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three chefs, as well as one People’s Choice award winner.

Run, support the Boys and Girls Club
POLSON — The Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County will sponsor the third annual Polson Mud Run on Saturday, July 16, at 9 a.m. (to open the Cherry Festival).
