Polson’s ‘Summerfest’ promises many fun events
POLSON — “Summerfest” on Flathead Lake is an exciting three-day event including: the Car Show, Sandpiper Arts Festival, live music concerts, boat and water events, Poker Walk/Run, and so much more. A kick-off event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 7, with Anderson Broadcasting at the KwaTaqNuk Resort at 7:30 p.m. The Bop-A-Dips community concert, also presented by Anderson Broadcasting, will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at Riverside Park. Life Savers Animal Rescue Fundraiser
POLSON — Do you love dogs and love cats? Would you love to own a truly unique art chair? Then please come to the Sandpiper’s Outdoor Art Festival on the courthouse lawn on Aug. 8-9 for the final day of bidding on many wonderful one-of-a-kind art chairs. This fundraiser benefits Life Savers Animal Rescue so please look for us by the courthouse steps.

Ingredients requested for Apple Pie Festival
POLSON — In anticipation of the Apple Pie Festival, Polson’s Immaculate Conception Parish is collecting sugar for making apple pies at weekend liturgies at every weekend liturgy in August. (Many thanks for last month’s flour donations.)

K-9 to demonstrate skills
POLSON — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will be at Murdoch’s parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 9, with demonstrations at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Come out and meet K-9 Sole and buy a raffle ticket to help him get a bullet/stab proof vest.
Many art forms on tap at 43rd Sandpiper Art Festival

Polson class of 1969 plans reunion
POLSON — It’s been a few years since we’ve said hello and we would love to see everyone at our 45-year class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 9. Reminiscing, story telling, and summer fun and games begin around noon with dinner from 5-7 p.m. or so. Bring own alcohol. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Wear luau attire. All children invited to ecumenical VBS
POLSON — All area children entering first-eighth grade are invited to an Ecumenical Vacation Bible Camp sponsored by the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Aug.11-15. Camp this year will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 Fourth Ave. E in Polson from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Students in grades first-sixth will enjoy music, arts and crafts, Bible Study and more at Good Shepherd Church. Students in grades seven and eight will do service projects. A registration and medical information form is required. There is no charge per student but a good will offering will be collected each day. Cancer group gives support
POLSON — A cancer support group for cancer patients, cancer survivors and caregivers meets twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays at the United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E from noon-1 p.m.

Church holds sports, art VBS
POLSON — Polson’s Foursquare Church will hold a Sports/Art Camp Vacation Bible School Aug. 11-15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The church is located 3.5 miles north of Polson Bridge. There will be a free dinner at 5 p.m. Camp includes flag football, archery or art classes. Registration can be made at: www.polsonfoursquare.org.
Learn about harvesting, storing herbs
POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Monday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E (use the east side door). Our topic will be “Being Prepared for Viruses.” We will also discuss harvesting and storing herbs and saving seeds of herbs and heirloom vegetables.

POLSON — There will be a Polson School District board meeting on Monday, Aug. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E.
Polson City/County planning to discuss regulations
The Polson City/County Planning Board is holding work sessions to review draft changes to the Polson Development Code. The Polson Development Code contains the zoning and subdivision regulations for the City of Polson and surrounding area. The public is invited to attend and participate in the meetings. Each meeting will be held in the Polson City Council chambers. The next meeting is on Monday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. and it will cover sign regulations.

Learn on-farm food safety from experts
POLSON — Join us for a field day on on-farm food safety. We’ll do a walk-through of Fresh Roots Farm with food safety experts. Together, you’ll be able to see the farm through the experts’ eyes: What are the problem areas? What are possible easy fixes? We encourage you to bring your challenges and have the group help you brainstorm cheap and easy ways to make sure you’re being safe and careful with your products. This field day is occurring in partnership with the Western Montana Growers’ Coop and their group GAP certification pilot program. POLSON — The Polson Rural Fire District trustee monthly meeting takes place Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds station. Blood drive held in Polson
MONTANA — The American Red Cross encourages all eligible blood donors to make an appointment to donate blood soon to help prevent a shortage.
A blood drive will be held in Polson on Thursday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center, 6 13th Ave. E.
To donate blood call (1-800) 733-2767 or visit: redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Share VJ Day memories, artifacts
POLSON — Miracle of America’s monthly “second Thursday free program” will start at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 14. This month’s event will cover VJ Day (victory over Japan) to officially end WWII. Where were you 69 years ago? Whether on the battlefront or on the home-front, please come and share your feelings, photos, or memorabilia. A showing of related artifacts recently added to the museum collection will take place and refreshments will be served.

POLSON — A benefit concert for Aiden Reichman, son of Mark and Kristi Reichman, will be held at the Elk’s Club, Saturday, Aug. 16 from 4-8 p.m. There will be a spaghetti dinner, door prizes, silent auctions and live music featuring the Wild Flowers.
