Gallery presents work of renowned artist through Nov. 11
POLSON — Takes Horse Gallery, 49487 US Highway 93, is proud to present “Art in Autumn,” an exhibition featuring the work of renowned artist John Gawne. A member of the CM Russell Museum’s elite Skull Society, John Gawne’s paintings of the western landscape and Native Americans are shown in some of the most prestigious galleries in the country. This is a unique opportunity see his work, as well as paintings by some of Montana’s and the Northwest’s best artists: John Gawne, David Dragonfly, DG House, Tabby Ivy, John Pepion, Rachel Warner and Shannon Webster. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, from 4-8 p.m. The exhibition will run from Oct. 6-Nov. 11.
Soccer teams compete

Support Hot Springs’ library
HOT SPRINGS — A fundraiser for the Preston Hot Springs Town-County Library will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14. Called “Linda’s Cookin’ and Yard Sale,” this event will serve a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy and more from 8-11 a.m. and Indian Tacos with fry bread, chili, cheese etc. from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Adult meals are $6 and kids under five are free. The yard sale is from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. All events take place at the Tribal Nutrition Center and all proceeds go to the library.

RONAN — On Oct. 15 the free movie “The Doe Boy” will be shown at The Entertainer Cinema at 1 p.m. It is a film about a teenage hemophiliac who is of mixed blood in a Tribe where blood quantum is very important. The discussion leader is Shirley Trahan.

Hometown heroes awarded
POLSON — This month’s Resource Roundtable will be SAFE Harbor’s Annual Honoring Ceremony for community members who have stepped forth to help break the cycle of violence. As part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, SAFE Harbor takes nominees from the community for “hometown heroes” who went beyond the call of duty in the last year. Join us for lunch and to recognize some wonderful citizens on Oct. 18 at noon in the Lake County Health Department Conference Room. Your RSVP will help us in planning for the meal.

‘Absolute Basics: Software’ taught at library

Watch movie shot in Montana at MOAM
POLSON — Miracle of America shows historic movies on their free “Night at the Museum” program. On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. “Timberjack,” a feature-length movie filmed in 1955 in Glacier National Park will be shown. Set in Montana in the late 1880s, two logging operators compete for survival. The Truecolor movie stars Sterling Hayden, Vera Ralston, and David Brian. Adolphe Menjou, Hoagy Carmichael and Chill Wills make character appearances. A portion of this movie was shot in Polson and is evident as you watch this action packed thriller. The public is welcome. Spooky, spookier haunted houses open
RONAN — The RHS Advanced Theatre Arts students are having a haunted house on Oct. 27 and Oct. 30 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. There is a kid-friendly version from 6-7 p.m. and then a spookier version from 8-10 p.m. Admission is $3 per person.
Walgreens holds pumpkin carving, painting contest
POLSON — I wanted to tell you about our second annual Pumpkin Carving/ Painting Contest at the Polson Walgreens. A winner will be chosen by the public and will receive a $25 gift card. Have entries in by Friday, Oct. 27, to be entered. Happy carving.
Wear costume in ‘Light the Night’ run
RONAN — The third annual Light the Night suicide awareness run at the Ronan High School track is presented by the Your Life Matters Project. The event takes place from 6:30-10 p.m. An online registration link is on the Your Life Matters Project facebook page. This is a fun 5K and 1-mile run/ walk for suicide awareness and a family event for all ages and abilities. It is so close to Halloween that we love to do costumes so plan on dressing up and having some fun. This is a night time run with fun things along the course.
