These classes will focus on shopping and menu planning, knife skills, and sauce making.

POSLON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 52nd Annual Harvest Dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for takeout only. 

Meal consists of Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, coleslaw, a roll and pumpkin pie.

Dinner is $12 each.

It is the desire of Good Shepherd to keep prices reasonable because this dinner is a mission/outreach of our community and donations are always welcome. 

Dinner proceeds will benefit the Red Cross Montana Disaster Relief and Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

COLUMBIA FALLS — On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1–4 p.m. at Backslope Brewing in Columbia Falls, the Flathead Valley chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is hosting: “Earth Day: Election Edition”. Our goal for “Earth Day: Election Edition” is for attendees to learn about climate concerns, climate-forward solutions and the stated positions of your Montana candidates so voters can cast an informed ballot on Nov. 8. The public is invited to join this free educational event. Forward Montana will assist the public with voter registration and attendees will have the opportunity to plan how they will vote on Nov. 8. Printed climate positions of current candidates will be available and Dr. Annie Bukacek, John Repke, John Lamb, Monica Tranel and Ryan Zinke have been invited to attend and mix with voters. Along with Citizen’s Climate Lobby, several other organizations will be on hand to discuss climate solutions they are promoting.

POLSON — On Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. the North Lake County Public library will offer “Meet the Library’s Apps.”  The course will introduce you to the library’s collection of websites and apps providing e-books, audiobooks, magazines and more. Technology Librarian Sierra Ross will introduce you to seven unique digital resources and how to access them on your devices. Whether you’ve dabbled in the apps before or don’t know where to begin, this program will help you explore new ways to take the library home and on the go.

POLSON —  The Lake County Public Library will host an AARP Smart Driver Course on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 1-5 p.m. The library is pleased to be partnering with AARP to present this course. There are fees for the class materials. Pete Ridge will be teaching this class. This course will bring you up to speed with the latest driving strategies, auto safety features, as well as new State and local traffic laws. This class is designed for drivers 50+, but all drivers are welcome. Upon completion, you may be eligible to receive an auto insurance discount. Registration is required. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will hold an evening family program on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Stephanie Gillin, a Wildlife Biologist with the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes will be here to teach us all about bats. Each Fourth Friday will have a unique theme and will feature displays by local artists, snacks, music and family-friendly fun. The Oct. 28 event will have a Halloween theme with special prizes for costumes ranging in age groups from kids to “too old for this but dressed up anyway.” In addition to the latest art exhibit, the event will also feature tricks and treats, snacks, cider, music, a photo booth and more.
