Local candidates to speak at forum
RONAN — A candidate forum will be held at the Performing Arts Center at Ronan Middle School, Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. Democrat and Republican candidates for local and state offices have been invited and will answer questions from the Ronan High School students and the audience. The Lake County Democrats and the Lake County Republican Women’s Club organized the forum. Everyone is invited to attend to learn the candidates’ positions on important issues, and to give support to the high school students who are taking an active role in the election process. Refreshments will be served.
Polson IEC sets meeting date
POLSON — The Polson Indian Education Committee’s monthly meeting is on Oct. 17, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Linderman School gym. October Neighborhood Watch meeting set
ST. IGNATIUS — Hunter safety will be the topic of the St. Ignatius Neighborhood Watch Chapter meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. Hunter Safety Instructor Dan Larssen will be the presenter. The chapter meets every third Tuesday of the month. The public is always welcome.

BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association will host our first “Fall Potluck” event on Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at the historic Big Arm School. Learn about the effects of time on wine

Final film in Indigenous series shown
RONAN — Final films in the Indigenous Film Series takes place on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. A trio of short films will be shown: “Apache Chronicle,” a look at the lives and artwork of five young Native Americans; “Crossing Boundaries,” the story of Sophie Morigeau; and “Search for the World’s Best Indian Taco,” a Choctaw grampa tells about searching for his true love. Admission is free at the Entertainer Cinema, 410 Main Street, SW. Children under 13-years old must be accompanied by an adult. Donations are appreciated.
Special event with Steven Paul Judd
PABLO — On Sunday, Oct. 23, a special event will take place when a “Community Art Project” with Steven Paul Judd happens at Two Eagle River School. Steven Paul Judd is a Kiowa-Choctaw artist, who fancies pop art, has a knack for comedy, maintains a devoted fan base, and does everything from graphic design to filmmaking.
As a well-known artist, Judd will guide a free Community Art Project on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 10:30 a.m.-noon.
The public is invited and all ages are welcome to participate in creating the project. There will be a welcoming drum and an introduction.

Ghosts tell tales at ‘Night at the Museum’
POLSON — At Miracle of America Halloween season sets the stage on Oct. 27, for the “Night at the Museum.” Two ghosts will appear and tell about their mortal experiences, Polson’s namesake David Polson and his daughter Agnes. A tour down photograph alley will follow with a discussion of the “then and now” of our area. We will then decide whether to pursue a local cemetery program similar to Missoula’s “Stones and Stories” in which the living play the part of a relative or dignitary at the grave site. Lutheran Church holds 46th Harvest Dinner
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 46th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, in the church fellowship hall. Suicide prevention/awareness fundraiser held
RONAN — You’re invited to Your Life Matters’ the second annual “Light the Night” 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk on Oct. 28. Registration is at 5 p.m. - race at 6:30 p.m. at the Ronan High School football field. Participants of all ages are encouraged to dress in costume and wear glow-in-the dark gear.
