‘Trunk or Treat’ fun planned
ST. IGNATIUS — Mission Valley United Methodist Church on Post Creek Hill is again hosting their Trunk or Treat for families on Oct. 31. Cars will be in the parking lot with goodies for the children from 4-6 p.m. This is a safe and fun activity for the family.
Big Arm celebrates Halloween with kids’ events
BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association will sponsor a “Charlie Brown Halloween” event at our historic Big Arm School on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 2-4 p.m. There will be games, crafts, snacks, and activities centered on the video, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Costumes are optional. Church invites all to chili,“trunk-o-treats”
ST. IGNATIUS — A community trunk-o-treat and chili cook-off will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at the LDS Church in St. Ignatius. All are welcomed to attend and enjoy the candy and the chili. Feel free to decorate a trunk, truck bed, etc. and pass out candy to all the kids and/or participate in the chili cook-off. Harvest celebration at Pablo School
PABLO – On Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m. a harvest party will take place at the Pablo Elementary School Gym. This event is hosted by the Pablo Churches.

‘Driven to Abstraction’ begins now through Nov. 14
POLSON — On Oct. 5 Sandpiper Art Gallery starts a new month-long show in memory of John Davis entitled “Driven to Abstraction.”
This non-juried show is open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the theme, in any medium, will be accepted. Miracle of America Museum have 4 or 5 metal sculptures there, one of which is very emotionally charged about drunk driving. The show runs from Oct. 5-Nov. 14.

Quilt Guild plans busy meeting
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Terrace Lake Community Church. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.; everyone is welcome. We will vote on the theme for the 2017 Quilt Show, so please bring your ideas to share. Methodist Church holds bazaar, luncheon
POLSON — The annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon at the First United Methodist Church, 301 Sixteenth Ave. E, is on Friday, Nov. 6.
Art, homemade crafts and baked goods will be sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Soup and sandwiches, topped off with an apple dumpling and ice cream, will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Proceeds will be used for local and church-wide mission outreach.
Powwow honors veterans, families
PABLO — The 23rd annual Veteran Warrior Society Powwow will be held on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 6-7, in the Joe McDonald Athletic Complex at SKC. Breakfast to benefit Thelma Briney
POLSON — A benefit pancake breakfast for Thelma Mae Briney will be held from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Cherry Valley School. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Thelma is the daughter of Brad and Mandy Briney and the granddaughter of Paul and Kathy Briney. Thelma has been diagnosed with a rare form of children’s cancer and is being treated in Seattle. Her parents and 5-year-old brother will stay with her during her 6-8 month treatment and will be unable to work. Please attend the breakfast or donate to the Thelma Mae Briney fund at First Interstate Bank in Polson. Prayers are greatly appreciated.
Chili, bluegrass music to benefit museum
CHARLO — The cooler weather calls for hot chili and bluegrass music. Come enjoy both at Leon Community Clubhouse on Saturday, Nov. 7. This fundraiser for Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana starts with homemade chili and cornbread being served from 5-7 p.m. and followed by foot-stomping bluegrass music by Left Over Biscuits from 7-9 p.m. Beer and wine are available for purchase. Free suicide prevention seminar offered
POLSON — A free training to help reduce suicide will be offered Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at New Life Christian Center in Polson. Those who attend the full 8-hour training will receive three certifications: Mental Health First Aid Certification, C.A.L.M. Certification (Conversation about Access to Lethal Means Certification), and Question, Persuade, Refer Certification.

Public meeting set for Polson Ice Arena

RONAN — Ninepipes of Early Montana History will sponsor a ‘Book Chat’ this fall at the Ronan District Library on Main Street starting on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. On the first evening we will discuss pages 1-65 of “The Painted Drum” by Louise Eldridge. Respite training at Ronan Senior Center
RONAN — The Lake County Council on Aging offers respite services for caregivers over the age of 60. This provides temporary relief and rest from caring for their loved ones. This service helps support family and informal caregivers to remain healthy so they can continue being caregivers. On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Lake County Council on Aging will present ‘Respite Training’ from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mission Valley Senior Center at 528 Main Street, SW.

RONAN — The Mission Valley Concert Band and Percussion Festival will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. The free concert is open to the public and showcases more than 120 students from Ronan, Charlo, St. Ignatius, St. Regis, Thompson Falls, Noxon, Plains and Arlee.
Veterans celebration and lunch
Annual Veterans Celebration Program and Lunch at Glacier View School will be held this year on Tuesday, November 10, the day before Veteran's Day. Our Students have prepared a short program at 11:00 to honor Veterans and their families. Lunch will be served afterwards at 12:00. Chinook Winds quintet to perform
RONAN — On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Mission Valley Live will present the wind quintet Chinook Winds at the Ronan Community Center at 7 p.m. Quintet members are principal players in the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra, as well as present chamber music throughout Montana. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
