‘Food for Fines’ program Nov. 18 through Nov. 30
POLSON — Monday, Nov. 18, is the first day of North Lake County Public Library’s “Food for Fines” program. It runs through Saturday, Nov. 30. You can pay off your library fines by donating food. For each item donated, $2 of fines will be forgiven. Sealed, commercially prepared, nonperishable food items with current expiration dates can be given to the circulation desk. This program does not include fees for lost or damaged items. All donations will go to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

Progressive sale offers discount at library Nov. 18 through Nov. 23
POLSON — A progressive sale where each week discounts get bigger while quantities become additionally limited, is being held at North Lake County Public Library. Purchases made between Nov. 18-23 will receive a 15 percent discount. Browse and find the perfect gift for your book lovers. All sale proceeds go towards the purchase of new technology and other items for library patrons.
Donate to food pantry at hospital through Nov. 22
POLSON — Providence St. Joseph Medical Center will support the University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats, Nov. 13-22, with a “Brawl of the Wild” food drive. Grizzly and Bobcat fans are encouraged to bring food items to be placed into a Montana or Montana State collection box located in the hospital main lobby, 6 Thirteenth Ave. E. All food collected will be given to Polson’s Loaves and Fish food pantry.

Learn to shop online safely
POLSON — On Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. North Lake County Public Library will offer a free computer class entitled, “Avoiding Scams and Shopping Safely Online.” Heather will teach you how to spot and avoid online scams as well as how to shop safely online. This class is free and open to the public.

Dance in Elks’ ballroom
POLSON — Join us for the community dance at the Elks on Main St. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 7-10 p.m. The music will be presented by Ken’s Country Combo. They play a variety of country and vintage rock and roll. This is the birthday dance where we provide a cake to celebrate November birthdays. No Elks membership is required. The cover charge is $5. Free Excel II workshop offered
RONAN — An Excel II workshop will be taught at the LCCD building, 407 Main Street, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Excel II is an intermediate class for students who have a basic knowledge of Excel. RONAN — Lake County Democrats are sponsoring a program devoted to the 2020 Census to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Ronan Senior Citizens Center located at 528 Main Street SW. The decennial census is a count of every person living in the U.S. as of April 1, 2020.

Sheriff to speak at Kiwanis meeting
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the KwaTakNuk Resort downstairs in the Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Join us for lunch when our speaker will be Sheriff Don Bell. Bell will update us on his office and then discuss the need for new jail facilities in Lake County. The Commissioners have scheduled a county mail-in ballot for Jan. 28, 2020. Polson school superintendent to speak to Pachyderms
POLSON — The public is invited to our next Pachyderm meeting on Friday, November 22nd noon to 1 pm. Rex Weltz, the Polson superintendent of District 23, will be sharing with our community about why the $60 million bond is being proposed to address needs of public schools in Lake County. POLSON —Providence St. Joseph Medical Center and Glacier Bank are collecting food for local food banks this holiday season. Collection points are located at the Glacier Bank main branch on U.S. Highway 93 in Polson and in the St. Joseph Medical Center lobby. Jam at Elks
POLSON — Classic Country Jammin’ will be held on Dec. 1, in the Elks ballroom, on Main Street from 2–5 p.m. This event will continue every first Sunday of each month. Bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, fiddle, drum, bass, sax, keyboard, etc., and join us for a few hours of fun. You must have your own equipment and we recommend you bring your own amp but it’s not mandatory since you may play acoustic. Everyone is welcome to play, sing, dance or just listen. We will have coffee and snacks. Water, drinks and soft drinks are available for sale in the bar and you do not have to be an Elk member to utilize it. The cover charge is $5.
