Free computer class offered
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library in Polson will offer Part II of a free basic computer class on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Sessions will be at 2 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. The class will cover operating systems and the Internet. Registration is required since space is limited. Feast with community in Polson
POLSON — Join the Polson community in a free made-from-scratch Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24. Meals will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Polson Senior Center. Join Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
POLSON — The ninth annual Polson Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Thursday, Nov. 24th at 10 a.m. Start and finish at Century 21 Big Sky Real Estate (corner of Highway 93 and Highway 35). We will run a nice course down Highway 35 and around Mission Bay. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Ronan serves up Thanksgiving Dinner
RONAN — The Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Ronan Community Center is on Thursday, Nov. 24, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Come enjoy community spirit, music and a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. St. Ignatius to serve community on Thanksgiving

Free screening clinic coming to Dixon
DIXON — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0-5 in the Dixon School District will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Dixon Preschool. ‘Water Protectors’ art exhibited at SKC through about Dec. 1
PABLO — “Water Protectors,” an exhibition of art in the Three Woodcock building at Salish Kootenai College, features the work of Orlando Avery and Corky Clairmont. Orlando’s photography is a series of his time spent at the Standing Rock Camp and the #NoDAPL Movement. Clairmont is exhibiting his mixed media work involving the Canadian Tarsands and Columbus Day. This exhibition will be up until about Dec. 1.

Hear about life on ‘Mars’
POLSON — “A Year on Mars” by Carmel Johnston, will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next program on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Carmel Johnston, Commander of HI-SEAS Mission 4, will discuss what it is like to live for a year on Mars. The NASA-funded project constructed a habitat dome high on a Hawaiian volcano, similar to the harsh conditions and rocky terrain that future astronauts will encounter on the red planet.
Johnston grew up in Whitefish and earned a bachelor and a master degree in Land Resources and Environmental Science from Montana State University.
Senior farmers market program seeks input
RONAN — The Ronan Council on Aging and the Community Food and Agriculture Coalition hope to start work on the creation of a Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. The goal of the program is to increase access to healthy food and meaningful community interactions to low-income seniors at our farmers markets. This means we need your input about how such a program would best support our clients here in the community. RONAN — On Thursday, Dec. 1, a dinner and silent auction fundraiser will be held along with orange and black scrimmages. The silent auction and dinner begin at 5 p.m. at the Ronan Event Center in the Middle School. Dinner is $5 per plate. Scrimmages begin at 6 p.m. Donated items are needed for the silent auction and may be dropped off at the middle school office by Wednesday, Nov. 30. Mission Chamber holds children’s Christmas carnival
ST. IGNATIUS — On Saturday, Dec. 3, a children’s Christmas Carnival will be held at the Community Center from 2-4 p.m. Santa will be there and there will be lots of games and prizes for kids of all ages. At 5:30 p.m. there will be a tree lighting ceremony at Gariepy Park with chili, cookies and hot beverages along with caroling and a Parade of Lights. All businesses, churches, and organizations are encouraged to have a float in the Parade of Lights. There is no entry fee and it is a great time to display your creativity. Later there will be details for the home decoration contest with prizes for three winners. Watch for details in the coming weeks in the paper and on posters.
