POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library continues their forays into Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) principles. This is a come-and-go-as-you need activity for kids of all ages from 3:30-5 p.m.
Quilters hold meeting
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Terrace Lake Community Church. You should have your “Easy Hunter Star” done. Be sure to square up your half square triangles to 2 and one-half inches so your block will be 8 and one-half inches. Refreshments will be provided by Terry C., Robyn S., Susan B. and Tereas H. Don’t forget your show-and-tell big or small. Everyone is welcome; you won’t know what you are missing until you check us out. No matter your age, it’s always fun to learn and meet new friends.

Check out music, dancing
POLSON — Join us for the community dance at the Elks on Main Street on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 7-10 p.m. in the ballroom. Music is by Ken’s Country Combo playing a variety of classic country and vintage rock and roll. Snacks provided during break at 8:30 p.m. Elk membership is not required. Cover charge is $5. Come early as Elk members cook up great hamburgers for purchase from 5-7 p.m. prior to our dance. Everyone is welcome.
Polson Chamber to hear from Superintendent Weltz
POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce general meeting luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at The Red Lion Inn, 209 Ridgewater Dr., from noon-1 p.m. Lunch will be from MacKenzie River Pizza at a cost of $13 each. November’s guest speaker is Polson School Superintendent Rex Weltz. Reservations are not required. These meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Progressive sale held at library through Nov. 9
POLSON — A progressive sale where each week’s discounts get bigger while quantities become limited will take place at the North Lake County Public Library. Purchases will be given a five percent discount through Nov. 9. Browse and find the perfect gift for your book lovers. All sale proceeds go towards the purchase of new technology and other items for library patrons.
Zen meditation class offered
POLSON — A Zen meditation class is being offered at the YogaHeart Studio’s new location, 209 Ridgewater Drive, on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. (located in the Red Lion Inn with private entrance to Yogaheart just south of main entrance) The class is presented by Zen Priest Zenku, Jerry Smyers. Learn best landscaping practices
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the KwaNaqNuk Resort downstairs in the Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Please join us to hear Kathy Ross, a landscape/gardener for 30-plus years in Northwest Montana, discuss the need for native insects, birds and the vital role native plants play in their survival. She'll also explore suggestions for landscaping practices and native plants that are not only attractive garden plants but promote biodiversity. All are welcome.

Discover secrets to winning novels
POLSON — On Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the North Lake County Library, Gwen Florio of Humanities Montana will present “Five Steps to a Winning Novel.” In judging contests, such as the 2019 Edgar Awards, novelist Gwen Florio read hundreds of books, a process that revealed some very specific things that made a few novels shoot to the top of the list, while other, perfectly well-written books, faded in comparison. This workshop will focus on those key qualities, with specific examples, and advice and techniques on achieving them. Gwen is an award-winning journalist and author. She is the news editor of the Missoulian.

Annual Veterans Day spaghetti dinner held

Audubon group to meet
KALISPELL — Dr. Charles van Rees, a naturalist and conservation biologist at the Flathead Lake Biological Station, will be the guest speaker at the Flathead Audubon meeting Monday, Nov. 11, from 7-9 p.m. in the Gateway West community meeting room in Kalispell. He will share the conservation story of ‘Alae ‘Ula, a water bird endemic to the Hawaiian archipelago. Charles will study aquatic invasive species at the FLBS. Free play uplifts, tickles funny-bone
POLSON/PABLO — “Every Brilliant Thing” is a moving story that is so timely and important. This is a free production that runs for approximately 60-70 minutes. The first performance will be held at the Port Polson Theater at 2 p.m. The second performance will take place at the SKC Arlee/Charlo Theater at 7 p.m. This play is a tribute to the irrepressible resilience inside all of us and the capacity to find delight in the everyday. “Every Brilliant Thing” is a funny, clever, and surprisingly uplifting play about the lengths we go to for those we love.
