RONAN — Hunter Education Classes will be held at Westland Seed in Ronan from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 18, 19, 20, and 23. The field course is held Saturday, Feb. 21. An additional class will be held for the area in March.

All hunter education classes are free of charge. By state law, anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must have completed the Hunter Education Course to buy a hunting license in Montana. To attend class and become certified, students must be at least 11 years old.

All students must register online at fwp.mt.gov, click “education,” for courses. When registering, students will note specific information and guidelines for the course included in the online posting.

POLSON — Winter Carnival, the family-fun event at Polson High School, is Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8-10 p.m. This year’s theme is “Back to the 90s.” Join the fun at the high school gym for carnival games, bingo, cakewalk, and other fun activities and food. As a volunteer you can become part of a community of health care professionals dedicated in offering compassionate end of life care to our patients in the Mission Valley. POLSON — The fifth annual Winter Fest is on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Polson Elks Club Ballroom at 5 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes Montana Backyard Barbeque. Children under 12 years old are free. 

The band Blue Smoke will follow a live auction. There will also be a silent auction, a 50/50 drawing and a basket raffle. Donation auction items are appreciated. This is a fundraiser for Journey Be, a nonprofit organization addressing hunger and homelessness. Space is limited, so please call the library at (406) 883-8225 to register.On Monday, Feb. 23, Introduction to Microsoft Word will be taught from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Students in this class will learn how to create new documents, save documents, share via email, and adjust fonts and font colors. The session is intended for those with little to no experience using Word.

RONAN — Ronan High School Talent Show has been postponed until Feb. 23. Tickets are still available at the Community Bank, Valley Band and the Flower Mill. If you already purchased a ticket it is still good for Feb. 23. Proceeds go towards Honor Choir and Jazz Band Tour.

RONAN — On Feb. 24 a special “Foster-a-Book Open House” will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Ronan Library. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Ronan Library, will serve refreshments and the books waiting to be fostered will be on display. On Wednesday, Feb. 25, Facebook Basics will be taught from 3-4 p.m. Facebook Basics is an introductory class in which students will learn about creating a Facebook account, setting up privacy settings, messaging, finding your friends, navigating and posting to your timeline, and uploading pictures.

POLSON — Mission Valley Christian Academy’s “Staying Alive” disco-themed auction fundraiser and dinner celebration is scheduled for Feb. 28. School supporters and community partners will share their talents and services in celebration of Christian education and for financial support.

ST. IGNATIUS — On Sunday, March 1, Pursuit’s family night is focused on the theme “What a Little Birdie Told Me.” Supper is at 6 p.m. of hot dogs and coleslaw. Supper is followed by an interactive night of assembling birdhouses. The wood parts are already cutout so you can simply screw them together. A local bluebird expert will speak. This would be a great night out for the family.

POLSON – Local veterans will offer a free public presentation at North Lake County Public Library in Polson on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. The program will focus on the highly acclaimed book “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien. Everyone is welcome, and refreshments will be served. The key speaker will be Sgt. Chuck Lewis, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Ronan.
