‘Old Find New Discovery’ art show at Sandpiper through Feb. 23

Adopt-a-Book at North Lake County Library
POLSON — To celebrate February being “I Love to Read Month,” North Lake County Public Library District is offering its annual Adopt-a-Book program. During the month of February, you may “adopt” a children’s book and present it to the library’s collection. You can purchase a book to honor or remember a special person or event, or your love of reading. Each book is $15. After a book is purchased, a plaque will be inscribed and placed inside. POLSON — Join us for All In Stitches’ 17th annual Walk Around Polson Quilt Show. Quilts will hang in businesses on Main Street from Saturday, Feb. 10, through Saturday, Feb. 24. Plan some time to pick up a ballot at All In Stitches and walk around Polson to vote on your favorite quilts by Feb. 21. Ribbons will be hung Feb. 22. Service dogs to be discussed at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON – All are invited to the Pachyderm meeting on Friday, March 9 from 12-1 p.m. at the Polson Rural fire department off Regatta Rd. Janet Austin will provide training on levels of working dog classification from Federal ADA and FAA laws about who can bring service animals into public settings and businesses. A real life story will be shared about Bill and his faithful dog JP and how they came to be a team plus information and resources on how to obtain a service dog.
Sheriff to discuss jail changes
POLSON — A Polson Pachyderm meeting will be held on Feb. 9 from noon - 1 p.m. at Polson Rural Fire Department off Regatta Road. Sheriff Don Bell will speak about the work being done to implement NIC assessment recommendations and lower the overcrowding in the Lake County Jail.

Join ‘Love at First Flight’ Valentine event
BIGFORK – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) will host “Love at First Flight” at Flathead Lake State Park – Wayfarers, 8600 MT Highway 35, on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. Celebrate the season of love with your love of nature at this family-friendly Valentine’s event. Make bird-seed feeders and go on a short guided hike to learn about some of the famous “love birds” in the natural world around us. The program will be held at the Flathead Lake Ranger Station in the Harry Horn Day-Use Area at Wayfarers. All ages are welcome, but the activities are most appropriate for families with elementary-aged children. Cost is $4 per person, or $10 per family. Space is limited. MISSION VALLEY — The Mission Valley Christian Academy provide Singing Valentines throughout the valley on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Orders can be made by picking up forms at MVCA, the New Life Church office in Polson or Mission Valley Printing in Ronan. Any MVCA deliveries or phone call deliveries will cost $3 and all other locations will be $5 until noon on Friday, Feb. 9. Orders must have payment included before they can be received, and they can be dropped off at MVCA, New Life Church or Mission Valley Printing or be mailed to MVCA at 38907 Highway 35 in Polson. After the Friday deadline, all deliveries will be $6 and $10, respectively.

POLSON — Enjoy a free movie at at the Miracle of America Museum’s, (36094 Memory Lane), “Night at Museum.” This event is held on the fourth Thursday evening of each month. This month on Feb. 22 we will show a heartwarming movie entitled, “Last Man Club,” about a World War II veteran who escapes his nursing home and goes on a cross-country road trip to find the last surviving members of his B-17 crew. In addition to the movie we are digging out our collection of over 400 vintage valentines for the month of February. Enjoy the “Art in Heart” as you view the thematic valentines spread around the museum’s diversified displays. Whether serious, sexy, schmaltzy, or just plain silly, you’ll fall in love with this exhibit. The movie is at 6:30 p.m. at The Miracle of America Museum.
