POLSON — The Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National and Community Service will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the Polson Senior Citizens Community Center, 504 Third Ave. E. Polson Mayor Heather Knutson will read a proclamation, serve, and be available to meet with people.

Other open houses will take place in conjunction with this event on Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Polson Health and Rehabilitation, St. Joseph Retirement Community and Pines of Polson Assisted Living. Event will include a site overview, cake and beverage services by RSVP volunteers.

He feels they had unjustly mistreated his Aunt Beverly who owned a military surplus yard. Harry has to use a WWII halftrack, (like the one the museum displays out front), to fight justice. ST. IGNATIUS — Collide in Romania, a youth group from Cornerstone Faith Center in St. Ignatius, will take 13 people to Romania in June to perform mission work. The group is having a yard sale on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, to raise funds for the trip. The sale is at the Cornerstone Faith Center from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. The group is also selling raffle tickets. First prize will win half a beef and half a pig. Second prize is a locally-made homemade quilt. Third prize is a china service for eight that originates from Romania. The tickets are $10 each or three for $25. POLSON — “Havoc Red – Surviving the Alaska-Siberia Route, 1943” is Carmine “Margo” Mowbray’s newest work of historical fiction. She will be discussing it at the Lake County Republican Women’s monthly meeting, Monday, April 13 at noon at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds.

Called “an accurate historical fiction of a fascinating part of WWII” by Missoula historian and publisher Stan Cohen, it is a 230-page softcover about Lend-Lease pilots who flew fighters and bombers from Great Falls to Fairbanks during WWII.

During her research, Mowbray discovered a dark side of the operation, one that has consequences to this day. Mowbray will be signing copies of the book, set in 1943, the coldest winter on record.

Attendees are encouraged to bring brown bag lunches. The social time begins at 11:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at noon.

POLSON – North Lake County Public Library will unveil four Little Free Libraries for the Polson area. The new Little Free Libraries are small, weatherproof, book housing structures that have been beautifully painted by local artists. They are based on the “take a book, leave a book” concept. RONAN – On Tuesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. in the Ronan Performing Arts Center the Mr. G Science Show will take place. This is a free presentation so bring the whole family. 

Mr. G combines the dynamics of music, lasers, raw eggs, fiber optics, toilet paper and all sorts of other materials with clear explanations to motivate students in science. This is a special opportunity for students, teachers and families to be exposed to unique demonstrations of scientific concepts and captivating phenomena. POLSON – Ken’s Country Combo will entertain us on “Poor Boy Wednesday,” April 15, from 7-10 p.m. This annual dance celebrates surviving tax season. Come join us to feel good and kick up your heels. The treats are superb and there’s lots of room on the dance floor.
