DIXON — A summer food service program will begin on July 7 and run until Aug. 1, Monday through Thursday, with breakfast served from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch served from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Dixon School community room.

Lake County fair begins July 28, through Aug. 3
RONAN — The Lake County Fair begins on Monday, July 28 and ends Sunday, Aug. 3. Fairgrounds are located right off Highway 93, north end Ronan. There will be 4-H and open class fair exhibits, food booths and kid’s games and activities all week. The fair offers spectator interaction with livestock shows, entertainment, youth activities and project judging. ‘Making Fitness Fun’ offered at McDonald Fitness Center through Aug. 22
PABLO — “Making Fitness Fun” is a free program for children ages 7 and older. Activities run Monday to Thursday, June 9 to Aug. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Joe McDonald Fitness Center on SKC campus. Sign ups can be done at any time throughout the summer at the Fitness Center. Organizers plan to provide free supervision to children while they participate in organized activities like swimming, hiking trips, kickball, football, baseball, basketball, dodge ball, Native games, volleyball, soccer, shinny, bike riding, nutritional education and more.
Free transportation to Ronan and Polson Boys and Girls Clubs will be offered at noon. A free nutritional breakfast and lunch is also offered at the Fitness Center, Monday-Thursday with breakfast served from 8:30-10 a.m. and lunch served from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Meals are for any age child up to 18 years old.

Pioneer Days promises full agenda
RONAN —Ronan Pioneer Days is a community event with fun for the whole family. The Mission Mountain Classic Run, 3-on-3-basketball and volleyball tournaments are some of the athletic events planned. Polson begins summer food program through Aug. 8
POLSON — The Summer Food Service Program will be held at the Cherry Valley Elementary School, 107 Eighth Ave. W from June 16-Aug. 8. Ronan Schools to offer kids meals through Aug.15
RONAN — From June 9-Aug. 15, all children 18 years of age and under will be served breakfast and lunch at no cost to their families. Meals will be served at the Ronan Middle School Commons from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 11:30 a.m.-12:55 p.m. for lunch. RSD No. 30 is considered an “open site” and may feed at no cost any and all children who wish to participate. Children are not required to live in the district.
All adults must pay cash for meals at the time of service at a rate of $4 for lunch and $2.50 for breakfast.

Barbecue, brews, boats gather at the lake
POLSON — The Polson Chamber’s sixth annual Smokin’ on the Water and the Brew Tour, take place at the KwaTaqNuk Resort on Aug. 2.
The one-day event combines freshly smoked barbecue with the sounds of live music and the opportunity to taste local brews. The barbecue is from 11 a.m.—6 p.m. and the local brew tour will go from 11 a.m.—8 p.m. Live music will play on the lawn all day with Smash Hit Carnival taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. This year, 10 of the dragon boats teams will paddle to Polson Bay as they prepare for the Montana Dragon Boat Festival on Sept. 13 and 14, in Bigfork.

Join Water Daze celebration
POLSON — Join Mission Valley Aquatics on Saturday, Aug. 2, for the 12th annual Polson Bay’s Water Daze one-mile swim race from Salish Point to Boettcher Park. Proceeds from this year’s event will support our Lake Monsters Swim Team.

Flathead Lake Biological Station to hold open house
POLSON – The University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station invites the public to a free open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. The station is located 17.5 miles north of Polson and 14 miles south of Bigfork along Highway 35 on the east shore of Flathead Lake.
Participants can explore the station and learn about research and education programs. This year’s open house features boat trips and displays about FLBS science, especially Flathead Lake and its watershed.

Polson City/County planning to discuss regulations
The Polson City/County Planning Board is holding work sessions to review draft changes to the Polson Development Code. The Polson Development Code contains the zoning and subdivision regulations for the City of Polson and surrounding area. The public is invited to attend and participate in the meetings. Each meeting will be held in the Polson City Council chambers. The next meeting is on Monday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. and it will cover sign regulations.

POLSON — Join us for a field day on on-farm food safety. We’ll do a walk-through of Fresh Roots Farm with food safety experts. Together, you’ll be able to see the farm through the experts’ eyes: What are the problem areas? What are possible easy fixes? We encourage you to bring your challenges and have the group help you brainstorm cheap and easy ways to make sure you’re being safe and careful with your products.
