Order Mission birthday calendars through Sept. 20
ST. IGNATIUS — Orders for the Mission Chamber of Commerce birthday calendars will be taken between now and the deadline of Sept. 20. There will be a table at Rod’s Harvest Foods from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Aug. 3, Aug. 21, Aug. 24 and Sept. 4. If you are unable to order at those times, contact LaVonne Olmsted at 406-745-3423. The price of the calendars remains $10. If you wish to add extra names and dates outside your household, there is a 50-cent additional charge for each name and date.

RONAN –– On Aug. 15 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the large pavilion on Eisenhower Street at the Ronan City Park the Grand Prize Picnic for Family Summer Reading Program will take place. There will be a free barbecue lunch for readers and their family members, where top readers are recognized, and winners’ names are drawn for grand prizes. Winners of the 2015 Writing Contest will also be announced.
MVCA to hold soccer game, luau, dance
POLSON — Mission Valley Christian Academy will hold an alumni soccer game, luau dinner and island dance on Saturday, Aug. 15. The game is at 2 p.m., the luau dinner of pork roast will be served at 5 p.m.

Wings for Wishes finds new location
ST. IGNATIUS — Wings For Wishes Over Montana is a radio-controlled airplane two-day fun fly event (R/C air show) designed to benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Montana. Shakespeare reappearing in Charlo
CHARLO — Montana Shakespeare in the Parks will perform Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” in Charlo’s Palmer Park Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.
In its 43rd season, the company features 10 professional actors selected from national auditions who tour without technical assistance to bring live theatre to mostly rural communities.
The performance is free and open to the public. Audiences are encouraged to arrive early with chairs, blankets and picnics.

This program provides residents with an opportunity to personally meet with their police and learn about the operations of the police department, discuss community matters of interest and get to know Police Chief Ken Weaver.

Probation officer to address Neighborhood Watch
ST. IGNATIUS — Barbara Monaco, chief probation officer for Lake, Sanders and Lincoln Counties, will address the St. Ignatius Neighborhood Watch group on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The group meets every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. The group may also discuss a possible future presentation concerning the Ryan United organization. That organization promotes community awareness of sexual and violent crimes.

Learn practices to increase pasture profits
RONAN — We’d like to announce our summer pasture workshop, ‘Pasturing for Profits,’ which will be held in Ronan Aug. 20-21. Jim Gerrish will discuss practical ways to increase the sustainability of our family agricultural operations. This workshop is a continuation of our winter grazing seminar. Attendance will be capped at 100. Workshop will include tours of pastures that are using innovative grazing practices. The workshop will be held at the Ronan Fairgrounds on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 20-21. The cost is $30 and includes a catered lunch on Thursday from Stella’s Bakery in Ronan.
Rodeo provides food, entertainment
POLSON — The Flathead River Rodeo will take place on Aug. 20, 21 and 22. The Indian National Finals Tour Rodeo, sponsored by the KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino and the CSKT Tribes, begins at 7 p.m. each night with live music after the rodeo each night. Food and beverage concessions will be available. There will be a professional bullfighting competition each night following the rodeo performance. Yard sale, you-dig plants to support Ware-Whipple family
POLSON — The Ware-Whipple family of Aware Wellness Center has to move to Panama in early September due to the respiratory health of their son. On Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a yardsale and a plant share, you dig free sumac, maple, some apples, pears, lots of comfrey, Jerusalem artichokes, sedum, pears to harvest, apples for winter storage, etc., all on donation basis.
The yard sale will have all things related to winter including clothing, coats, ski gear, ice fishing, hunting, guns, ammo, winter sheets, blankets and bed spreads, etc. Long term food storage for sale, too. Come support our family’s future farming in Panama, and come say goodbye. Youth group raises funds for charity
