Summerfest begins in Polson

Skate Jam held at Polson skatepark

POLSON — The Wednesday, Aug. 12, dance will honor Don Pederson from Round Butte. It is waltz night, and he was the king of that dance. Don died a year or so ago, and he is missed. Shakespeare reappearing in Charlo
CHARLO — Montana Shakespeare in the Parks will perform Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” in Charlo’s Palmer Park Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.
In its 43rd season, the company features 10 professional actors selected from national auditions who tour without technical assistance to bring live theatre to mostly rural communities.

Probation officer to address Neighborhood Watch
ST. IGNATIUS — Barbara Monaco, chief probation officer for Lake, Sanders and Lincoln Counties, will address the St. Ignatius Neighborhood Watch group on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The group meets every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. The group may also discuss a possible future presentation concerning the Ryan United organization. That organization promotes community awareness of sexual and violent crimes.

Learn practices to increase pasture profits
RONAN — We’d like to announce our summer pasture workshop, ‘Pasturing for Profits,’ which will be held in Ronan Aug. 20-21. Jim Gerrish will discuss practical ways to increase the sustainability of our family agricultural operations. This workshop is a continuation of our winter grazing seminar. Attendance will be capped at 100. Workshop will include tours of pastures that are using innovative grazing practices. The workshop will be held at the Ronan Fairgrounds on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 20-21. The cost is $30 and includes a catered lunch on Thursday from Stella’s Bakery in Ronan.
Rodeo provides food, entertainment
POLSON — The Flathead River Rodeo will take place on Aug. 20, 21 and 22. The Indian National Finals Tour Rodeo, sponsored by the KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino and the CSKT Tribes, begins at 7 p.m. each night with live music after the rodeo each night. Food and beverage concessions will be available. There will be a professional bullfighting competition each night following the rodeo performance.
