Order Mission birthday calendars through Sept. 20
ST. IGNATIUS — Orders for the Mission Chamber of Commerce birthday calendars will be taken between now and the deadline of Sept. 20. There will be a table at Rod’s Harvest Foods from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Aug. 3, Aug. 21, Aug. 24 and Sept. 4. If you are unable to order at those times, contact LaVonne Olmsted at 406-745-3423. Three classes offered at Sunday school
ST. IGNATIUS — September is “Gathering time” for our Fall Sunday School. All children are welcome to come at 10 a.m. during Sunday worship for Sunday school. We offer three classes: preschoolers, first-third grades and fourth grade on up. We have a dynamic program planned called Deep-blue, a weekly adventure through the Bible. Deep-blue is a new awe-inspiring resource for children that includes adventure, exciting stories, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling and active games. PABLO — The Sunday History Series at the People’s Center will celebrate “Chokecherry month” for Salish/Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 1- 4 p.m. with a presentation on chokecherries, pounding and storing berries. Crafts will be done afterwards.

PABLO — Native American Awareness Week activities take place Tuesday, Sept. 15-Friday, Sept.18, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at the People’s Center on Highway 93 in Pablo. This event is geared towards educating school children about Salish, Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai history, culture and traditions. The week’s activities and events are free and open to the community to participate in. See demonstrations of slicing and drying wild game, fry bread making, hide tanning, drumming and singing, and native dancing. There will be crafts for kids, native games, and tribal language demonstrations.

ST. IGNATIUS — In St. Ignatius on Sept. 15, 2015, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the CSKT Longhouse, 81 Blind Barnaby, a free training entitled “Drug Endangered Children Awareness Training” will be held. Ignored, abused, and abandoned, these are the conditions experienced by children raised in environments where there is illegal drug use, manufacturing, cultivation, and distribution. CSKT Tribal Social Services, Youth at Risk of Homelessness/ Trauma Informed Substance Abuse Programs will host training and awareness sessions to help identify and assist drug endangered children. Lunch will be provided. If there is a wake, the training will move to the CSKT Fitness Center in St. Ignatius.
Tribal wildlife rep to speak in Mission
ST. IGNATIUS – Dan McClure, administrative sergeant of the Salish and Kootenai Confederated Tribes wildlife department, will address a meeting of the St. Ignatius Neighborhood Watch on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center. The public is invited to all St. Ignatius Neighborhood Watch meetings. Chamber uncorks fundraiser
POLSON — The second annual Chamber Uncorked fundraiser will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Polson Motorcoach Resort/KOA. Pachyderms tackle Suicide prevention
POLSON – Regrettably, suicide is a serious problem in Lake County. No doubt some of these tragedies could be avoided if we knew more about the issue and could recognize some of the warning signs. The public is invited to hear and interact with Roxana Colman-Herak as she discusses the topic of suicide at the meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club, Friday, Sept. 25, at noon. The meeting will be held in the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds.
In October, Roxana will be teaching a two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training course along with her husband Marty at Salish-Kootenai College.
The Pachyderm Club holds informational meetings the second and fourth Fridays of each month.

Barbecue to benefit motorcycle victims
POLSON — A benefit barbecue, raffle, 50/50 and silent auction for Victor Moldenhauer and Montana “Tana” Bosker will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 3 p.m.-midnight at the Sportspage Bowl and Lounge. Victor and Tana recently sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. The barbecue dinner, with all the fixin’s, is $10 per plate or $30 per family.
