POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will begin their summer hours on Friday, June 1. They will be open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Sandpiper begins new exhibit
POLSON — The Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery, 306 Main Street, begins their new exhibit, “Where Were You Hiding?” This exhibit runs from Sept. 3-Oct. 12. This is a non-juried show, open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the theme, in any medium, will be accepted. There is a small entry fee for non-Sandpiper member artists. Free Zen Meditation class offered
POLSON — A free Zen Meditation class offered at the Yoga- Heart Studio, 314 Main Street, on Wednesdays in September will take place on Sept. 5, 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. The classes will be presented by Zen Priest Zenku, Jerry Smyers. Dragon Boats compete in Lakeside
LAKESIDE — The annual Montana Dragon Boat Festival will be held on Sept. 8-9, in Lakeside. The annual Montana Dragon Boat Festival brings family fun, spirited competition and colorful pageantry to Volunteer Park on Flathead Lake in Lakeside, just 10 miles south of Kalispell. Races are 200 meters and begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be live music in the entertainment pavilion. Fort Connah Rendezvous depicts fur trade era
ST. IGNATIUS — The annual fall Fort Connah Fall Rendezvous, which depicts life during the fur trading era of Montana, is on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9. This is a great opportunity to see the 1847 historic Hudson’s Bay Fort Connah Trading Post come to life. This event is free to the public and includes demonstrations of time era activities, a chuckwagon-style barbecue, a baked goods sale, beer and wine, crafts and kids’ games. There will be historical talks after the opening ceremony at noon on Saturday. The hours are from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. Celebrate peace in Arlee
ARLEE — The 14th annual Festival of Peace will take place at the Ewam Garden of One Thousand Buddhas, 34574 White Coyote Road, on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. There will be guest speakers, food vendors, arts and crafts, plus live music and dancing. Ewam is a federally registered non-profit – donations are appreciated.

Learn Native culture, traditions
PABLO — The People’s Center holds Native American Awareness Week activities during the second week of September. Events are geared towards educating school children about Salish, Pend’Oreille and Kootenai history, culture and traditions. The week’s activities and events are free and open to the community to participate in. See demonstrations of slicing and drying wild game, fry bread making, hide tanning, drumming and singing and native dancing. Library toddler program begins at new time
POLSON — The Mother Goose reading program offered by North Lake County Library remains on Mondays but now begins at 10:30 a.m. Please take note of this new time. The half-hour program is for toddlers (ages 0-3) and their caregivers any Monday the library is open. There are always nursery rhymes and stories galore. The library will be celebrating the Great American Read/PBS program during September and invites you to check out one of the 100 books America will be talking about.
Republican women return from summer break
POLSON — The Lake County Republican Women will return from a summer break for their first meeting on Sept. 10, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Department. Quilters delay meeting by one week
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept 11, one week later than normal. It will be held at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan at 6:30 p.m. It’s yearly dues time. Invite a friend to come to the meeting and join in the fun and refreshments. Science Activity Fair held
POLSON — A Science Activity Fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 11a.m.-3 p.m at the North Lake County Public Library. The library’s amateur astronomy club is partnering with the Coalition for Public Understanding of Science, or COPUS, which brings together brilliant scientists and organizations dedicated to science from around the globe. This year they’re throwing a science fair at the library and will give you the chance to interact with internationally acclaimed scientists and experts as well as catch up on developments closer to home, such as the work being done through SciNation on the Flathead Reservation and the library’s NASA @ My Library grant. This event will feature a variety of hands-on displays and activities, as well as freebies and swag while supplies last. Want your picture taken on the surface of the Moon? Watch Lake County High School Rodeo
POLSON — Lake County High School Rodeo will be held at Polson Fairgrounds Saturday, Sept. 15, starting at 9:30 a.m. Two rodeos will be run that day. Watch as the girls and boys participate in a wide range of rodeo activities: barrels, saddle broncs, goat tying, and breakaway and possibly there will be sports shooting. Hear about Mission Valley Has Talent Contest
POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Tuesday each month at the KwaTaq-Nuk Resort downstairs in the Koostatah room from noon-1 p.m. Our speaker on September 20 will be Tillie Marshall who will talk about Helping Hands and the Mission Valley Has Talent contest. The MVHT is a fundraiser for Helping Hands that raised more than $6,000 this year for the fund, a nonprofit ministry supported by the Mission Valley Ministerial Association. For the 2019 MVHT they are seeking people of talent of all types between the ages of 5 to 95. In 2019 there will be age categories for the performers.

Cycle through the Mission Valley
MISSION VALLEY — The Mission Mountain Area Pedal to Plate event is a 40-mile cycling event to show off farms and promote eco-tourism in the Mission Valley on Sept. 22. Cyclists will take off at 10:30 a.m. from the Ronan Fairgrounds. The entry fee is $50, which includes tasty locally-sourced food at four farm stops and a barbecue with vendors and live music at the end of the ride at the Ronan Fairgrounds.
