In running for mayor last year, one of the things I wanted to work on within the City is communication with our citizens and getting more people involved in the process of government. I know many citizens have never attended a City Commission meeting. There are also several people in recent months that have attended for the first time, as we are facing serious issues with the wastewater treatment facility that will have significant impacts on our community members.

Though these difficult challenges are never fun to have to go through, I have appreciated the citizen’s involvement in this process. I would like to take this opportunity to invite our citizens to be a part of the process on an ongoing basis. I want to share some ways in which you can find information about what is happening within the City, and explain what opportunities are available for you to connect.

The local newspapers have covered issues happening within our city on an ongoing basis. Our local radio station has also been helpful in spreading information to our community. In addition to these outlets, the City of Polson website is also a valuable tool for us to provide information to our community. On the site, www.cityofpolson.com, you will find meeting notices and supporting information on current topics. Contact information for your local Ward Representatives is also available on the site, and we encourage you to be in touch with your representatives as you have ideas, questions, and information that you would like to share or learn about.

We are currently in the process of updating our website to make it even more valuable and user friendly for our community. Please watch for additional information on this in the future, or continue to check the site.

Of course attending City Commission meetings is a great way to get to meet your City Commissioners, hear what details are being discussed, and provide information and feedback. We meet the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 106 First Street East, and I would like to invite you all to attend and be a part of the process.

We always do our best to represent you and the community’s needs overall. We thank you again for your interest and involvement, and we look forward to continuing to work together as we face challenges and enjoy the opportunities that are presented to us in the years to come.
