Judge James A. Manley dealt with the following case on Oct. 8:

James Andrew Johnson pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony.

An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Nov. 5 with a jury trial commencing on Jan. 5, 2015.

One of the defendant’s conditions of release is the standard no alcohol provision.

The charge stemmed from a Dec. 2 incident when law enforcement effectuated a search warrant of a vehicle owned and driven by Johnson. The officer found a blue bank bag, containing a small amount of marijuana residue, several prescription stimulant pills and a cut piece of straw with methamphetamine residue in it, according to court records.

Judge James A. Manley dealt with the following cases on Oct. 1:

Randall Carpentier, 31, Polson, pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony.

An omnibus hearing was set for Nov. 12.

Christopher John Ochs, 18, admitted committing assault with a weapon, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. The Court found Ochs guilty. Sentencing in both matters was set for Nov. 5.

Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the following cases on Oct. 16:

Chantal Cooper did not appear in district court on charges of criminal possession with intent to distribute, a felony, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. After Lake County Attorney’s office requested an arrest warrant, Judge Christopher signed the warrant.

Charges stem from an incident on Sept. 30, 2013, when Cooper was a passenger in a car stopped by officers. The car was subject to search by Adult Probation and Parole, and officers asked Cooper if she had any belongings in the car. According to court records, Cooper grabbed her phone and then, after a prompt from the car’s driver, a black bag under the seat.

The officer grabbed the bag and noticed it was unzipped. In plain sight he could see a white tube he recognized from his training and experience to be a tube used to snort drugs. Also in the bag was a broken light bulb, also an apparatus used to ingest methamphetamine.

The driver of the car told officers Cooper also should have had about “half a gram” of methamphetamine on her person, which the driver had given Cooper to sell.

When officers questioned Cooper after her father and aunt arrived, Cooper gave officers a bag of methamphetamine.

Trevor Isaac Ross, 24, Dixon, pleaded not guilty for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. An omnibus hearing was set for Dec. 11 with a jury trial commencing on Feb. 9, 2015.

Joetta Shalaine King, 29, Missoula, admitted committing criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The Court made its findings, accepted the plea and found King guilty. Sentencing is set for Nov. 20.

Raymond James Burland, 39, Ronan, entered a general denial to allegations in a petition to revoke his probation. The charge stemmed from a suspended sentence for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a felony.

The Court set an adjudicatory hearing for Nov. 20 and ordered Burland to maintain contact and cooperate with his attorney and probation officer.
