MISSOULA – The Pirates opened the season with a split at the tip-off tourney played at the University of Montana Friday and Saturday.

Starting off with a bang Friday, the Pirates toasted Anaconda 64-52 with the help of Matthew Rensvold’s 19 points. Chris McDonald added 17 for the Pirates and teammates Derek Peel and Andrew Curley chipped in nine.

Saturday the Pirates had a tough time getting around Viking defense to score, falling to Bigfork 35-72. McDonald led the Pirates netting 10, while Rensvold and Payton Lefthand tossed in seven.

The Pirates will host Flathead Dec. 19 and then will travel to Hamilton Dec. 20.
