Soccer

Polson Pirates 8, 

Bigfork Vikings 1

Mack Moderie scored four goals and an assist to lead the Polson Pirate boys’ soccer team to an 8-1 victory over hosting Bigfork Vikings on Tuesday afternoon, September 18.

Robin Erickson scored two goals and recorded two assists for the Pirates. Keyan Dalbey had two assists, while Bridger Wenzel scored a goal. Kaden Nelson rounded out the scoring for the Pirates on a Nico River assist.

Whitefish Bulldogs 5, 

Polson Pirates 0

On Saturday at Whitefish, the Pirates fell 5-0 to the Bulldogs for their first loss of the season. The Pirates had five shots on goal, while Xander Stalkfleet had nine keeper saves.

Polson Lady Pirates 7, Bigfork Valkyries 2

On Tuesday afternoon, September 18, Sophia Moderie scored four goals and an assist helping the Lady Pirates over Bigfork 7-2 on the road. Ashlee Howell had two goals and three assists, while Ali Hupka added a goal and an assist. Chloe Matt also had an assist for the Lady Pirates.

Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 8, Polson Lady Pirates 2

The Lady Pirate moved 3-4-1 on the season and 2-2 in conference action on Saturday with an 8-2 loss to hosting Whitefish Lady Bulldogs. Sophia Moderie netted a goal for the Lady Pirates in the first half, while Ashlee Howell scored on a Lilly Armstrong assist in the second half. Megan Rost had 11 keeper saves.

 

Cross-Country

Ronan senior James Normandeau ran for a 16:51.5 victory and Polson’s Beatrix Frissell finished first with a time of 19:38.8 during the Thompson Falls Invitational on Thursday.

In the girls’ team race, the Polson girls finished fourth followed by Ronan in sixth and Arlee in eighth. 

Top-25 finishers were Molly Sitter of Polson, 10th; Analeta Yellow Bird of Ronan, 15th; Karolyna Buck of Mission, 20th; and Gwen Seeley of Polson, 25th.

For the boys, Ronan and Polson finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Arlee placed ninth.

Top-25 finishers were Mason Sloan of Polson, ninth; Quin Stewart of Polson, 11th; Wills Degrandpre of Charlo, 14th; Brant Heiner of Ronan, 15th; and Michael Irvine of Ronan, 21st.

 

Football

Arlee Warriors 60, 

Darby Tigers 12

Lane Schall threw six touchdowns as the Arlee Warriors improved to 4-1 with a 60-12 win over hosting Darby Tigers on Friday evening. Both Lane Johnson and Chase Gardner had three touchdown catches. Darshan Bolen and Colt Crawford both rushed and scored touchdowns. 

Charlo Vikings 44, 

Victor Pirates 12

On Saturday, visiting Charlo Vikings prevailed over the Victor Pirates 44-12. Roper Edwards, Philips Marquez and Garett Vaughan each had a reception for a touchdown as Landers Smith threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Vaughan scored a rushing touchdown, and Smith ran for two scores on 10 carries for 120 yards.

 

Golf

Polson Pirate Matt Hobbs shot a second place 75 during the Western A Divisional golf tournament at the Cabinet View Golf Course in Libby on Saturday. Hobbs qualified along with teammates Trey Kelley, fourth place, and Colby Devlin, 26th place, for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday in Hamilton.

Ellie Thiel was the top Lady Pirate finisher at tenth place followed by Cali Cannon at eleventh and Amanda Farley 17th place. The trio will advance to the state tournament.

Both the boys and girls squad placed third in the team standings. For the Ronan Maidens, Macao Jackson was the top placer at 16th place followed by Madyson Running Crane, 21st place, and Kylee Niemeyer, 26th. All three ladies advance to Hamilton next week. The Chiefs didn’t qualify. The cut for qualifying for state was a score of 93. Anthony Camel was the top finisher for the Chiefs with a score of 99.

 

Volleyball

Loyola 3, 

Mission Lady Bulldogs 0

Addison Arlint notched seven kills and four blocks as hosting Loyola swept the Mission Lady Bulldogs 25-21, 25-21, 26-24 on Tuesday, September 18, in a conference action. For the Lady Bulldogs, Hunter Eichert tallied 20 assists, Caitlyn Sorrell had nine digs and River Gonzalez served up two aces.

Columbia Falls Wildkats 3, Polson Lady Pirates 0

Polson visited Columbia Falls Thursday night and fell in straight sets 25-15, 25-16, 25-15. 

Polson was led by Shea McGuinness with eight assists, 13 digs and three service aces.

Kaylanna DesJarlais led the defense with 14 digs, and Mikaela DuCharme and Maggie Todd had six kills apiece.

Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 3, Ronan Maidens 0

On Thursday evening, Whitefish swept visiting Ronan in straight sets 25-7, 25-9, 25-13.

For Ronan, Madeline McCrea had five kills and two blocks, while Tiana Ulutoa had six assists and an ace.
