Editor,

To really know her is to more fully appreciate this fourth generation Montanan. A rich family background of military service, having lived twice in Germany plus eight US states, in her own words, “has given me a larger perspective of the world and the country we live in.”

I am speaking of Susan Evans, candidate for the Montana Legislature. In the over 20 years I have known Susan, her lifelong dedication to volunteering has been front-and-center. Her list of dedicated services is long and impressive. She said to me: “I am running for the Montana Legislature as a continuation of my dedication to public service partly because I believe that too many there have forgotten they are public servants.”

Some of her platform: (1) reduce the disastrous partisan politics that have disrupted our ability to work together; (2) keep Medicaid Expansion and extend it to the many not included; (3) repairing our crumbling infrastructures denied in earlier sessions because our legislators were playing political power games instead of working together for the good of Montana; (4) the Colstrip area ‘unit shutdowns’ is an opportunity to turn the energy infrastructure already there into new jobs by switching to wind and solar facilities, job creation, cheaper energy, and raising money by selling excess energy to California and Oregon; (5) the need to rework our tax system to take the burden off local homeowners and the struggling middle and lower income citizens.

These are some of the legislative goals of Susan Evans. This lady is dedicated, capable, energetic, enlightened, empathetic, and very qualified as a valued member of the Montana Legislature. This is not only my opinion but the opinion of many. Let’s make sure we all vote.
