Editor,
On May 10, I called Tribal Police and Lake County because there’s been a four-wheeler and a dirt bike (not street legal) that only show up after the school bus goes by my place at 4 p.m. From 4:30 to 5 p.m. they show up and my 75-year-old friend that lives around the corner from me told me they have been disrespectful. Also, I saw them down on the lake bed at Turtle Lake. Is there no respect for our tribal lands? No police showed up. I called at 7 p.m. and at 8:45 p.m. they were still tearing things up. There are turtles hatching out. There are wetland birds nesting and just a lot that need our respect and care. These kids are supposed to help us elders and protect and preserve our tribal land – not tear them up and be disrespectful to our wildlife and life in general. From a concerned tribal member.
