Editor,

The Lake County Elections Office and their team of judges deserve our thanks for doing a difficult job. Here in Lake County, we can have full confidence in the integrity of our elections.

As has been my past experience, the Elections Office, under Katie Harding, once again did an outstanding job. Harding is extremely knowledgeable, and she kept a watchful eye over the entire process.  The judges working under her did a great job.  Everyone was conscientious and strict about the rules and protocols.

This is a time-consuming, boring and monotonous task to be sure, but I say with confidence that Katie Harding and her judges were ethical, professional and dedicated to ensuring all ballots in Lake County were properly processed.

This was an unusual mail-in only primary. We were interested in how it would be handled and formed a team of observers to monitor the four days of vote processing.  Nationwide, there has been concern about the integrity of the ballot, and voter fraud is one of the most difficult crimes to discover — much less prosecute. Our team concluded, we can have tremendous confidence in the Lake County Elections Office.

I thank Harding and all the judges for the work they did.  We salute them for a job well done.
