Editor,

Congratulations! We have kept COVID-19 Lake County cases down, so far, with no deaths. However, statewide, is another story. On June 1, there were 461 cases of the virus, and on June 14, there were 600 cases of the coronavirus in Montana. That was over a two-week time span. You can see how the coronavirus has increased exponentially in just under one month here in Montana.

You would think that these numbers in our state, combined with the knowledge that we are in a worldwide pandemic, would raise everyone’s awareness of our problem, and you would think that all our health behaviors would have changed to protect our loved ones and ourselves, too. But, this is not evident in our grocery stores, pharmacies, post offices or the like.

Many in Lake County are going about town without masks. A mask, along with hand washing and six-foot social distancing, is one of the simple ways to fight this lethal pandemic. Don’t let our lowercase and death numbers in Montana lull you into a sense of security that you are somehow, bulletproof.  Wear a mask.
