Editor,

I read with interest Carlene Vey’s letter about the proposed subdivision on the 130 acres owned by DNB Development out of California. I get the impression around here that there is not much oversight by the county planning department or our county commissioners who just see dollar signs and tax revenue. From 200-400 units east of the highway and a little south of downtown Ronan, there will be extreme impacts to roads, schools, sewer and water. These will cost existing Ronan residents.

In the grab for tax revenue people fail to realize that cost of community services per acre generally outweigh the cost of community services for an acre of open space or agricultural land. Do we need housing? For sure we do, but do we need one huge subdivision, built by someone from California who has no clue or care about the needs of Lake County.
